Predicted Liverpool Line-up To Face Swansea City In The Premier League
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will be gutted to have taken just a point from their trip to the Emirates at the weekend, in a game where they dominated for long periods. They did manage to retain their 4th spot in the points table but are closely being chased by Spurs, who are just a point away. The Reds have a superb chance to improve the gap on Boxing Day when they welcome a Swansea City, who have just sacked their manager.
Standing at rock bottom, the Swans have not taken even a point from their last four games, and are not expected to take anything from this trip to Anfield either.
Team News
The Reds are still without the likes of Alberto Moreno, Jordan Henderson and Marko Grujic, who are all out injured. However, defender Joel Matip is expected to be back in action alongside Daniel Sturridge, who is only a doubt for this game. I also expect Mo Salah to be rested for this game, with him maybe receiving a few minutes towards the end of the game.
Formation: 4-3-3
Manager: Jurgen Klopp
GK – Loris Karius
Though Mignolet remains the first choice for Klopp, even after the disastrous performance against Arsenal, the manager’s rotation policy could see him get a break and be replaced by Loris Karius.
RB – Trent Alexander-Arnold
Joe Gomez was culpable for letting Arsenal’s first goal in at the weekend. He could be given a break, with the young Trent Arnold getting a chance at right-back.
CB – Dejan Lovren
Though Matip is back in training, Lovren has hardly put a foot wrong for almost three weeks now and deserves to keep his place in the side.
CB – Ragnar Klavan
Though he had a tough time at the Emirates, Klavan has also been solid alongside Lovren recently and Klopp should not break this partnership any time soon.
LB – Andrew Robertson
The injury to Moreno should see Robertson start his 5th consecutive league game.
CDM – James Milner
The English international has been decent in the midfield for Liverpool this season and could play as the deepest of the midfielders against the Swans.
CM – Georginio Wijnaldum
The Dutch international only got 10 minutes against Arsenal and should be fresh, to take on the struggling Swansea City on Boxing Day.
CM – Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The former Arsenal man got a cameo at the Emirates at the weekend but should get his chance to impress from the start in this clash.
RW – Sadio Mane
The Senegalese international has missed a number of easy chances in the last few games and will hope to redeem himself with a match-winning performance against the Welsh outfit.
LW – Philippe Coutinho
One of the most productive players this season in the league, Coutinho will be the danger man for Liverpool, starting on the left flank.
ST – Roberto Firmino
The Brazilian is an integral part of the squad at Anfield and has also added goals to his game this season. He needs to be at his best for Liverpool to get anything from this game.
