Pulisic could fill the void left by Coutinho

Liverpool have made a number of high-profile signings to bolster the squad ahead of the new campaign. Jurgen Klopp has used the funds from Coutinho’s transfer to bring in the likes of Virgil Van Dijk, Xherdan Shaqiri, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Alisson Becker. The Reds now possess the world’s most expensive goalkeeper and the world’s most expensive defender.

The Merseyside club are looking scarily strong at the moment and will surely start the season as favourites to win the title. Klopp is yet to win a trophy at the club, though the manager’s arrival has seen Liverpool made considerable progress since the days of Brendan Rodgers.

Klopp is aiming to make one more transfer before the window shuts on 9th August. The club are in need of an attacking midfielder and haven’t been able to replace the void left by Coutinho. Liverpool have been linked with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Christian Pulisic over the last few days. Jurgen Klopp has reportedly identified the American as an ideal replacement for Coutinho.

The German outfit have slapped a £62million price tag on the American and it seems as though Liverpool are going to have to dig deep into their pockets once again.

Pulisic rose through the ranks of Dortmund’s youth academy before shifting to the senior squad in 2016. He has since gone on to make a total of 70 appearances for the German outfit, scoring 9 goals.

The 19-year-old has established himself as a regular in the squad and played a crucial role for the Yellow Wall last season. He’s also racked up a total of 21 appearances for the United States’ national team.

The American made a total of 32 appearances in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 4 goals and providing 5 assists. He is generally deployed as a right-winger, but Pulisic is capable of playing on the left flank as well. The midfielder is versatile enough to play as a central attacking midfielder as well.

He is an explosive midfielder who is capable of splitting defences and breaking ankles. He is often praised for his impressive dribbling ability. The youngster also displays his vision and creativity on the ball.

Pulisic was instrumental for Dortmund in their win against Liverpool in the International Champions Cup. The American scored a brace as the German outfit won the game 2-1 against the Merseyside club.

Klopp should certainly make the move for the player who would bring a new dimension of play. As they failed to sign Lyon captain Nabil Fekir, Liverpool could make up for it by snapping up the American prodigy.
