Klopp or Guardiola – Who Should Replace Arsene Wenger As Arsenal Manager?

Share

As someone who has followed Arsenal from before the great man Arsene Wenger took charge (from the George Graham era if we want to be absolutely particular) this topic does not really give me any joy to write about. As someone who supports Arsene Wenger completely after falling in love with the Frenchman’s innovative techniques which revolutionised English football totally, there cannot be any question that I definitely want Arsene Wenger to stay on and complete the project he has been embarking for so long. Infact getting rid of Arsene Wenger after this season, does not make much sense particularly when you consider the options available. The people who can take Arsenal to the next level are very few in number. Most of them will be unwilling to leave their job at the current time or even at the start of the next season.

However there cannot be any denying that Arsenal has to look at life after Arsene Wenger, because even if it is not this season or the season after next there can be no denying that the Frenchman’s days at the club is numbered. Most Arsenal fans are very confident on this one issue that this current contract that Arsene Wenger is on is the last contract of Arsene Wenger as Arsenal manager. So here at Soccersouls we take a look at the possible replacements who can take over after Arsene Wenger calls it a day.

Jurgen Klopp:

Jurgen Klopp

He just feels right for the job. We will neither discuss all the trophies he has won with the Borussia Dortmund side because you can do it by a simple wikipedia check nor will we talk about the team not winning a major trophy since the last 3 seasons. However we have to take into account that his Borussia Dortmund side is picked apart by Bayern Munich almost every season for their best player that season. Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski has already made that jorney while speculation increases that Marco Reus can be the next man to don the colours of the Bavarian giants.

A manger with tenacity and determination and one of the propounders who bought gegenpressing to Borussia Dortmund’s play which saw them win two Bundesliga titles on the bounce. Also the season before last, he was this close to guiding the German side to a Champions League triumph only to be pipped by the mighty Bayern Munich in the finals. However the USP of Klopp is that he does not just manage but rather build teams and at present perhaps look the most perfect fit, atleast on paper for Arsenal.

Pep Guardiola: The only other man who is big enough and good enough for the job. Perhaps the most successful manager in the modern era winning titles in the truckloads (first with Barcelona and now with Bayern Munich). His style of play is however the main reason why he will suit Arsenal so much. A strong advocate of the passing game, he will be the ideal manager who will be able to continue the good work of Arsene Wenger’s era while getting the much needed steel in the team.

Verdict

Even though both the managers are world class and will fit well with the Gunners, we feel that Klopp should be the preferred one as securing his signature should be more easier than convincing Guardiola to accept the job offer. Also Klopp’s swashbuckling counter attacking style will bring breath of fresh air to Arsenal’s style of football which is very predictable now a days.
