Wycombe 0 Fulham 2: Whites See Off Wycombe Challenge
Second half strikes from Lucas Piazon and Denis Odoi secured an EFL Cup victory for Fulham over their League Two opponents. An upset never looked likely in this tie, as Fulham took control of the game from the start. The West-London side had the better of the chances in the first-half, but were just unable to make the break-through.
However, after the break, they almost went a goal down. Marcus Bean shot narrowly wide, having been presented with a decent opportunity. That was Wycombe’s best chance and Fulham punished Bean for not being clinical in front of goal.
On-loan Chelsea attacker Lucas Piazon finally opened the scoring in the 67th minute. The Brazilian fired a shot into the top corner from 25 yards out. It was a goal worth waiting for. From then on, Fulham never looked likely to surrender their advantage. Denis Odoi headed home from a corner late on, to book the Championship’s side’s place in the EFL Cup second round. The victory ensured that Fulham won this stage of the competition at Adams Park, for the 2nd time in 3 seasons.
The possession was shared evenly in the game, well, almost. Fulham having the line share of the ball, with 55% possession. In fact, most of the statistics were fairly even. Fulham having 12 shots to Wycombe’s 9, and 5 shots on target to the hosts’ 3. Although, as we know, statistics don’t always tell the full story.
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the game:
Pleased with that Fulham win tonight! Great to see so many academy products get a run and even earn what sounds like a well deserved W

Satisfied with tonight’s performance, matched Fulham all the way, just a moment of magic allowed Fulham to close out the game.

FT Wycombe 0-2 Fulham. Much-changed FFC side did the job, never really looked like losing. Kids did well, didn’t look out of place.

The highlight of the Wycombe vs Fulham game was a bird that walked across the goal line
