Manchester United are struggling this season and everyone is witnessing their poor form this season. The team has been constantly poor in front of the goal. The team surely needs to be rebuilt as most of the players are getting injury prone and some players are losing their form.
Marouane Fellaini has been the worst Man-United player this season. Carrick didn’t live up to the expectations. Rojo was out due to injury most of the season. Memphis Depay, what to say? The Skipper, Wayne Rooney cannot argue over his poor form. And, due to the escalating injury crisis, Van Gaal had to introduce some players from the academy and to be honest, they did a great job if comparing them with the senior squad. Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford, Fosu-Mensah, all performed out of their skins to keep the team in the battle.
United’s legend Paul Scholes; after United defeat to Liverpool stated:
“When you are United there are certain standards you have to be at and they haven’t made them. When we were playing we were reaching them. They’re falling well short. We had to live up to them standards and take the club on.
“Everyone of them (players and manager) are falling short of those standards. [And] The lack of fight. I see Lallana after 60 minutes stud-rolling; someone tackle him, smash him.
“For 20 years Man United had an identity: Fast football, pass the ball forward, run. The last three years they’ve gone away from that, something that worked. Tonight, what were they trying to do?
“Tonight, it was shocking. They go to a back three which last season was a disaster and that second half tonight was an absolute disaster.”
Manchester United has scored just 39 goals in their 32 games in this season’s premier league. The team needs someone who can guide the line at both attack and in defence. This season, the philosophy has taken United the wrong way as the players have been played out of their natural position constantly. The recent example is right here in front of us. The team (United) is trailing by 3 goals to nil, you need a striker or a player to close down the deficit. You introduced Ashley Young, that’s ok; he is a great crosser of the ball. Deploy Martial at center and play Young out wide. Isn’t that so simple? No, Martial still plays at left and Young was introduced as the Center Forward and eventually the team created no chances.
As I told earlier, the team needs some player who can guide the team in different positions.
As there has been a constant rumor about Mourinho joining Manchester United, there are also some rumors that states, he wants to bring Harry Kane and John Stones.
But, will it not be an easy task to acquire Kane who is enjoying an extraordinary season with the club? The 22-year-old has scored 22 goals this season in the league and is the top target for most of the big guns of Europe.
Signing this young man can help Manchester United’s case a lot. As the team is having a tough time in the league, this player can bring a major boost for the club. He has all the experience and knows every thick and thin of the league. What he can bring to the club can be easily seen from what he has brought to Tottenham. Kane has the passion for the game and loves scoring goals. Very quick in sprinting, a great header of the ball, a great finisher and what not. Kane is a traditional number 9 player and is the one United desperately needs. The English Goal Machine can bring back the energy through his incredible work rate. Kane, who is capable of striking the ball from distance, can form a great partnership with Martial in the attack.
On the opposite side of the pitch, United are still not sure about the position of Daley Blind. After his arrival, he has been played at 4 different positions namely Central Midfielder, Defensive Midfielder, Left back and Center Back. As the injury problems escalated, he was used as a defender alongside Chris Smalling. He struggled a lot as he has no physical strength compared to the League’s strikers but, he eventually converted into a defender United can trust on. But, for how long? They need a tough rock at the back alongside Chris Smalling. And who is better than John Stone in that area? The most wanted center back in England was linked to Jose Mourinho while his time at Chelsea and who knows, he can sign for United next season. Stones being a defender, he has a passing accuracy of 89% this season and have won 40 out of his 62 headed duels, have succeeded in 21 out of his 27 take ons. What he can bring to Manchester, he has shown at Everton and for sure, he can resolve the defensive crisis at the club.
