Kane and Young to start – Strongest 3-5-2 England line-up to face Panama on Sunday

England could book their place in the knockout stages of the FIFA world cup 2018 with a win over Panama on Sunday. The Three Lions won it late against Tunisia in their opening match where Harry Kane scored a crucial goal to win his team 3 points.

England are currently sitting second in the Group G table behind Belgium, who have a superior goal difference following their 3-0 thrashing of Panama earlier.

Gareth Southgate will have to make a few decisions while choosing his team for the Panama game as Dele Alli has been ruled out with an injury. The coach might also seek to make other changes to get the best out of his system.

Predicted England Line-up

Manager: Gareth Southgate

Formation: 3-5-2

Jordan Pickford (GK)

The Everton goalkeeper has established himself as the first choice goalkeeper for England under Southgate. The 24-year-old shot-stopper should keep his place for the Panama game.

Kyle Walker (RCB)

A wingback by trade, Walker has found a new position in Southgate’s system where he plays as the right-sided defender in a back-3. Although he was at fault for the penalty scored by Tunisia in the first match, the Tottenham player should make the team.

Kyle Walker

John Stones (CB)

Despite being benched at Manchester City, the defender has been a constant fixture for England in recent times. Another England cap is in the offing for the young defender.

Harry Maguire (CB)

The Leicester City defender was colossal for England in the first game. The giant defender made a great impact at both ends and was efficient with his passing.

Kieran Trippier (RWB)

The back-3 system has helped Trippier in being a starter for England and the Tottenham man hasn’t disappointed. A defender with great crossing ability.

Ashley Young

Ashley Young (LWB)

Ashley Young should keep his position. The veteran has slotted in well as a wing-back for Manchester United and now, England.

Jordan Henderson (DM)

The Liverpool captain forms an important part of the English team. Henderson acts as the link between defence and the attack through his excellent passing range.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (CM)

The promising Loftus-Cheek should get a start because of Dele Alli’s injury. The Chelsea youngster has English fans excited with his energy and presence in midfield.

Harry Kane

Jesse Lingard (CM)

The Manchester United winger has been used as an advanced midfielder by Gareth Southgate and the Panama game should be no different.

Raheem Sterling (CF)

The Manchester City attacker has been criticised for his poor finishing recently but he should keep his place as there is immense quality in the player.

Harry Kane (ST)

The poster boy and captain for England at the world cup, Harry Kane will be the first name on the team sheet.
