Predicted Leeds United Lineup To Face Norwich City
With a play-off place looking completely secure as recently as late March, Leeds now find themselves very much second favourites to land 6th and have a crack at the final at Wembley.
Garry Monk’s men have lost 4 of their last 6 games in the Championship and naturally see this game as the classic ‘must win’. They are up against a very much rejuvenated Norwich City side though and they are of very similar quality. Norwich arrive with no pressure at all and can play freely, something which could prove extremely dangerous for the Leeds defence to handle.
The advantage to this is the space the home side are likely to be afforded in advanced areas and can line-up in a 4-2-3-1 with the following personnel:
Probable Leeds United XI:
Formation: 4-2-3-1
Manager: Garry Monk
GK – Rob Green
The former England man has had his moments this season, as he often does, but remains a quality ‘keeper and should start again.
RB – Luke Ayling
A consistent season for the full-back, who may be best served by bombing down the flank and putting the Norwich left-back under pressure.
CB – Kyle Bartley
Got the consolation goal at Burton last time but will be required to use all of his defensive powers and concentration this time around to keep his team in it.
CB – Pontus Jansson
His wonderful partnership with Bartley could be coming to an end, but for now, the on-loan Swede remains a rock at the back.
LB – Charlie Taylor
Someone who will be coveted by Premier League teams in the summer, Taylor is a force at left-back. He should start this game.
CM – Kalvin Phillips
May well get the chance to start again next to Vieira. He will play an important role in dictating the pace of the game.
CM – Ronaldo Vieira
The young Portuguese player has been impressive this season but needs one last push to try to land his side a play-off berth.
RW – Kemar Roofe
Another impressive youngster who could be running out of steam. One last big effort may just keep Leeds in the hunt.
CAM – Pablo Hernandez
This game could be ideal for the Spaniard. He is not as effective when people harass him but that may not be Norwich’s game this week. If he gets space he will punish the opposition.
LW – Souleymane Doukara
Doukara is a useful outlet and can combine well with Taylor down the Leeds left. Should start this game.
ST – Chris Wood
Leeds’ biggest chance of grabbing a last-gasp spot in the playoffs. Wood has shown numerous times that he only needs one chance to score but he may get more than that this time in what could end up being a high scoring game.
