The transfer window is slowly picking up pace with Nemnja Matic’s move to Chelsea the biggest of the window so far, and halfway through the window, the rumors are quickly becoming more and more expansive. Here’s a look at some of today’s choicest ones.

10.Paul Pogba to Manchester United

Former Manchester United player Paul Pogba had recently been linked with a return to Old Trafford, but a report in The Independent suggests that Pogba has rejected the possibility of return from Juventus. The report states that the former Manchester United’s prodigy feels such a deep grievance about the way he was treated by Sir Alex Ferguson that he has ruled out any notion of returning, a move that would add quality to the midfield, something that David Moyes’ side is sorely lacking.

9. Fernando to Liverpool

After being linked with a host of major clubs across Europe, Liverpool are the latest club to enter the race for the Brazilian by the Express. Fernando’s contract is set to expire next summer and there had been speculation that the 26-year-old could be available for a cut-price fee with reports in Portugal suggesting that the Reds had scouts present for Porto’s match against Benfica on Sunday to monitor Fernando.

8. Etienne Capoue to Napoli

 

According to a report in the Express, Rafa Benitez’s Napoli have put in a bid of £7.5m for Capoue, who cost Spurs approximately £9m last August and Tottenham are thought to be prepared to take a £1.5m loss on a player they signed just six months ago from Toulouse. Capoue has been on the fringes of the Tottenham squad this season and new boss Tim Sherwood is understood to prefer emerging talent Nabil Bentaleb.

7. Wilfried Zaha to Cardiff City

According to a report in The Guardian, Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on bringing in Manchester United winger Wilfried Zaha and West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison to help the club’s relegation fight. Solskjaer’s links with Old Trafford make Cardiff favorites, ahead of Stoke City and Newcastle United, to land Zaha, should David Moyes decide to allow the 21-year-old to go on loan.

6. Iago Aspas to Valencia, Real Betis

Spanish clubs Valencia and Real Betis have equired about loaning Liverpool forward Iago Aspas who has struggled to make a big impact since his £7million move to the Anfield giants from La Liga’s Celta Vigo last summer, according to Mirror. It will be Brendan Rodgers decision whether he can spare Aspas or needs him to cover injuries as the Reds chase a top four finish and also try to remain in the title race.

5. David Luiz to Barcelona

According to French newspaper Lefigaro, Chelsea could sell 26-year-old centre-back David Luiz to Barcelona for 35 million euros (£29m), after having rejected the Catalan club’s earlier offer of 25 million euros (£21m) last summer. While David Luiz is its priority, plan B for the Catalan club include Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal), Eliaquim Mangala (Porto) and Iñigo Martínez (Real Sociedad).

According to The Telegraph, Newcastle United are hoping to take Dutch international Luuk De Jong on loan, paving the way for Papiss Cissé to leave the club. De Jong has talked publicly about his desire to move to Newcastle and Mönchengladbach are likely to agree to Newcastle’s loan, with a view to buy offer as long as they can line up a replacement.

3.Diego Forlan to Cerezo Osaka (Japan)

According to a report in GulfNews, Former Manchester United forward Diego Forlan looks set to move to Cerezo Osaka of Japan. The 34-year-old, who currently plays for Internacional in Brazil, is in the final stages of talks with the Japanese outfit and is expected to join soon. The J-League has lost many of its top talents to European clubs, it is expected that the Uruguay international can increase the profile of the J-League.

2. Kurt Zouma to Chelsea

According to The Mirror, French defender Kurt Zouma is set to join Nemanja Matic at Stamford Bridge in January. Zouma has been strongly linked for some time and could be edging closer to a move with reports stating that the St Etienne star’s agent has confirmed talks have begun with ‘a big club in England’, with the Blues the likeliest destination. A fee of around £13m would be enough to prize him away, well within Chelsea’s vast budget, but if Zouma does make the move to Stamford Bridge this month David Luiz could be the one to make way.

1. Julian Draxler to Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger wants to sign Schalke playmaker Julian Draxler for £35 million and then turn him into the new Robin van Persie, according to a report in The Mirror. Wenger sees major potential in converting the 20-year-old Draxler from an attacking midfielder to a centre-forward, just like he did for Robin van Persie. After failing to bring him to the Emirates in the summer, Wenger is all set to try and lure the 20-year old this January.
