Predicted Scunthorpe United Lineup To Face Millwall

Scunthorpe United finished the regular season just 4 points off automatic promotion from League One and will be gutted should they fail to at least get to the play-off final at Wembley.

Their 3^rd place finish (just above Fleetwood on goal difference), gives them the chance to play 6^th placed Millwall and get the away leg out of the way first. Millwall were royally turned over in their last home outing, losing 3-0 against Oxford in what was possibly their worst performance of the season.

Before that though, the Lions had not lost in 15 home games on the bounce and so Graham Alexander’s men have a very tough task on their hands to bring an advantage back to Glanford Park.

GK – Joe Anyon

The former Lincoln City stopper needs to establish himself at this level before playing at a higher one. Should be given a chance to do the same.

RB – Jordan Clarke

The 25-year-old former Coventry man is good while going forward and will provide good support for Holmes on the right.

CB – David Mirfin

A regular starter at the back, Mirfin has chipped in with 2 goals this season but keeping out the Millwall attack would remain his primary focus.

CB – Murray Wallace

Impressively, the young Scot has managed to play every single league game so far this season at centre-back and will be important once more.

LB – Conor Townsend

Unlikely to add a goal to the cause, Townsend is defensively sound and can keep his place at left-back.

RM – Duane Holmes

Looking to eventually break into the USA national team, Holmes will need to reach a higher level and this represents a great chance to achieve that.

CM – Sam Mantom

Perhaps hasn’t got the goals some would have expected him to during his first year at Scunthorpe. The former Walsall man is used to playing at this level and knows what it’s all about.

CM – Neal Bishop

The veteran midfielder has put in another great shift. 42 league games and 5 goals this season have helped Scunthorpe a lot this season.

LM – Josh Morris

Incredibly, the left-sided midfielder is looking for his 20^th league goal of what has been a brilliant season for him.  Whatever happens to Scunthorpe, some time at a high level looks to be coming soon for the lad from Preston.

ST – Kevin van Veen

Back at the club having spent his time playing in his native Netherlands, van Veen has netted 10 in 33 league games this term and if fully capable of punishing Millwall if they make the same mistakes as they did against Oxford.

ST – Paddy Madden

Now in his third full season at the club, Madden rarely misses a game and already has 56 goals for the club. Should start the game.
