Joel Castro Pereira: I Want to be the Number One of Manchester United in the future

Joel Castro Pereira an academy recruit at Manchester United since July last year has been doing well for the youth and reserve team under coach McGuinness. He joined the Red devils after an impressive trials with them and the 16 year old has been a success story ever since. Looks like a certain Swiss keeper is on the rise for Sir Alex Ferguson. The youngster has dual Swiss-Portuguese nationality after being born in Boudevilliers and playing for the likes of Neuchetal Xamax.

Nicknamed as “The cat” Joel Castro has an eye on the coveted number 1 spot at Old Trafford. However he faces competitionfrom his academy graduates Jonny Sutherland and Pierluigi Gollini. The youngster has represented United in the Aegon Future Cup other than the reserve matches.

In a recent interview, Manchester United youth team goalkeeper Joel Castro Pereira has revealed that one day he hopes to be the No.1 at the club.

He said,

“My goal is clear: to be the number one of Manchester United in the future.

“I have to be ambitious. When I walk into Old Trafford, I realize it’s there that I want to be.”

He also praised the atmosphere around the whole United camp,

“It’s all fantastic. The training, the environment, the link between the professionals and the youth.”
