January is the time for Chelsea to wave goodbye to these 2 liabilities in the squad including £10m signing

Two Players who Chelsea need to offload this January

Chelsea have looked like a side transformed under the guidance of Maurizio Sarri. The overly defensive tactics deployed by Antonio Conte have affected the club badly, with some extremely poor signings being conducted over the last couple of seasons.

While Marcos Alonso and N’Golo Kante can be hailed as successful signings, he made transfer moves for Tiemoue Bakayoko and Danny Drinkwater – both of which were extremely questionable moves. While Bakayoko has been shipped to AC Milan on loan for the season, Danny Drinkwater looks completely out of contention for a place in the squad.

Hence, there are some players who would be better off leaving the club in January in order to free up some space and wages for quality players to come in. Here are the 2 Chelsea players that Maurizio Sarri needs to offload in January to enjoy a successful rest of the season.

Victor Moses

First choice right wing back under Antonio Conte, Victor Moses, who joined Chelsea for £10m, was overplayed in that position. However, he doesn’t possess the quality to represent a top-6 premier league side as he is extremely careless and wasteful on the ball.

Moses’ decision-making skills are questionable as he tends to shoot even when multiple passing options are available to him.

Rather quick on the ball, a loan move to another premier league side looks like the best option for Victor at the moment as he is completely out of contention for the right-back position which is right now being shared by Cesar Azpilicueta and Italian international Davide Zappacosta.

Danny Drinkwater

A signing that was made on the back of the move for N’Golo Kante, Antonio Conte brought the midfield duo that won Leicester the premier league in the preceding season.

As it turned out, Drinkwater would end up being left out of the squad for all the competitions in the following campaign – not even featuring in the EFL cup or even the FA Cup.

Danny Drinkwater

He was involved for Chelsea last season as they finished in the Europa League spots. Having still played no part in any of the premier league games this season, it looks like the sale of Danny Drinkwater is necessary.

He is obviously a top quality player capable of the odd assist while controlling the pace of the game from the midfield. He would certainly add a different dimension to any of the bottom-half teams with his experience and that is something that most top managers are always on the lookout for.
