It’s Going To Be Arsenal vs Chelsea – Ian Wright Gives His Verdict On Title Challengers

Football Pundit Ian Wright says that Arsenal are giving a good fight to leaders Chelsea, but the Gunners legend believes that Chelsea are the team to beat.

The Blues sit on first place at top of the table, and they continued their brilliant run of form which extended their winning streak to nine games in as many matches. Chelsea underlined their status as genuine title challengers as they managed to overcome a West Bromwich Albion side 1-0 at Stamford Bridge thanks to a goal from their hit-man Diego Costa.

Wright states the first two teams in the league look to be having title challenging credentials and are leading the way to fight for the title after 15 games. After Chelsea beat West Brom, Wright was quoted saying,

“That’s a big win for them [Chelsea] because it’s the ninth on the spin. It was a tough game and they know where they are. The pressure was on and they won the game. They’ve got a run of games coming now where you fancy them to win, so I do believe that Chelsea are the ones to beat.”

Arsenal meanwhile, also kept the pressure on the leaders Chelsea as they came back from a goal down to win 3-1 against Stoke City at the Emirates on Saturday.

The pressure was on Antonio Conte’s side and they came up with the goods to go back to the top of the table after Arsenal were at first place for a short while. Speaking about his former club, Wright admitted,

“I think that Arsenal have a little bit more resoluteness about them and they can chase Chelsea. Tottenham have got half a chance. It’s wide open but Chelsea are the ones to beat.”

Arsenal take on Everton at Goodison Park in their next Premier League game on Tuesday night, while Chelsea travel to the Stadium Of Light on Wednesday to play David Moyes’ Sunderland. Chelsea are currently three points ahead of second placed Arsenal with 37 points and Arsene Wenger’s men have 34.
