Italian journalist confirms Arsenal on verge of signing Star Striker

Premier League giants Arsenal are now on the verge of signing Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, as per recent claims. The Gunners will look to complete a four-year deal worth €9m-a-year for the French international. This was as per Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, who keeps working for the Guardian and Reuters, confirmed the news on Twitter.

Giulianelli had sent out a tweet late on Wednesday morning stating that the 27 year old striker would be moving to the Emirates soon, though the Arsenal faithful were not really excited about these claims.

The reason for the lack of enthusiasm was due to the fact that Real Madrid head coach Rafael Benitez had earlier told reporters on Monday that the Frenchman would be staying at the Bernabeu this summer.

The Spanish manager told BBC Sport, “I think Benzema is going to stay with us. I’m very happy with him.”

Further, after Arsenal’s 1-0 victory over Chelsea in the Community Shield at Wembley, manager Arsene Wenger dismissed such rumours in his post-match press conference as well. He said, “No, honestly, no. I don’t know who brings that up.”
