Is This The Right Time For The 19-Year Old Midfielder To Move To Chelsea?

Chelsea are ready to embrace a change at the very apex of their management this season with Jose Mourinho arriving at the Stamford Bridge for his second coming.

OK, you have heard about all that, we will directly get to the point. It has been reported that One of Mourinho’s target this summer is Schalke’s 19-year-old midfielder Julian Draxler. The teenage sensation, who has caught the attention of Europe’s big wicks is reportedly interested in moving to the Premier league with Chelsea seeming a likely target. But does it mean a big leap for his career or will the transfer be a regressive step in the long term? Well, Draxler thinks it is hard to turn down clubs like Chelsea and United,

‘Which boy doesn’t dream about playing for Real, Barca, Chelsea or Manchester United? There is nothing to be ashamed of,’ said Draxler.

However, Draxler recently extended his current contract with Schalke up until the summer of 2018, which clearly tells us the midfielder is not leaving anywhere soon and Schalke may demand hugs sums if anyone comes calling.

No vacancy

Juan Mata, Eden Hazard, Frank Lampard, Ramires, Oscar, Lucas Piazon, Victor Moses, Marko Marin, Kevin De Bruyne and new signing Andre Schurrle. How about this for a midfield line-up?

Chelsea posses one of the best midfield combinations in all of Europe with the three amigos calling the shots. The partnership of Mata, Hazard and Oscar is expected to flourish in the coming seasons and continue to haunt the opposition defences. All the three players have proved their worth and it will be hard to push them to the bench while giving youngsters more game time. Thereafter, Chelsea have  Schurrle and Victor Moses waiting to play on the wings with the likes of Lampard and Ramires in the central midfield. Thus we can safely conclude that if the player wants first team football action, Chelsea is not the club he is looking for.

Mourinho’s past

Jose Mourinho is a kind of manager who has always been a showman more than a subtle tactician (forgive me Chelsea fans). It is in his veins to work with the biggest of stars in world football and fetch results. Draxler is just 19 years old and it may raise doubts on many of Mourinho’s critics as to whether this would be a wise step for the player to play under a man who has little past records of building the path of a youngster.

His future with Schalke

Schalke have provided a best platform for Draxler and they have genuinely made a star out of him. At such a tender age, he has featured in the Bundesliga 75 times scoring 13 goals. It can be deciphered from here that he is a valuable member of the German outfit and should spend a couple of more seasons with his current club before making a switch. Adept in forward positions, the teenager has the composure and temperament to operate wherever he is placed in the final third, with his shooting from distance making him a constant threat. So why move to a bigger team and find yourself on the benches when you have a decent chance of building your career at a much smaller club and attracting better suitors in the future.

Here is a video of the Draxler:

Albeit, I don’t think the London outfit are seriously considering Draxler this summer and there are already worries about Andre Schurrle amongst the fans as they have recruited another youngster who may just find it difficult to feature in the first team.
