Is This English Sensation Attracting A Switch To Manchester United?

Manchester United are having quite a transfer season and it seems that Louis Van Gaal isn’t done yet. A striker has been the need of the hour for United ever since the departure of Dutch striker Robin van Persie to Turkish side Fenerbache.

While Thomas Muller, Edinson Cavani, and Robert Lewandowski have been a few names that are linked with a move to the Old Trafford but it seems that United are zeroing in on Tottenham star Harry Kane. The English prodigy had an amazing season with Spurs last time around after he scored a whopping 21 goals and ended as season’s second highest goal scorer in the Premier League.

An official bid isn’t made by Manchester United, however, according to major tabloids a price of 50 million euros have been slammed by Tottenham for the prolific striker. United and Tottenham have had a fair share of dealings between them and United have signed some of their star players in the likes of Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Carrick. With Manchester United lacking the creative spark in the attack, Harry Kane could just be the solution to all the striking problems. But, Kane personally isn’t interested in making the switch and that’s what he said on an interview with the Telegraph.

“I’m happy. I’m focused on what I do,” he said. “I’m happy at Tottenham which is a great club headed in the right direction.

“I want to become a club legend. You are always going to face pressure in football. But I’m very strong-minded and I know what I want to achieve and taking that number 10 shirt was just another part of that.”

“When I knew 10 was available I just wanted it. I love this club and to be wearing number 10 for Tottenham is amazing for me. I could not resist.”

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has claimed that Spurs want to keep hold of Harry Kane and has quashed the rumors of a ‘discreet bid’ by United for the services of the forward.

Also, with Roberto Soldado joining Villareal and Emmanuel Adebayor’s departure looking imminent, Harry Kane has got the opportunity to prove why he is the best. Tottenham has also added Clinton N’Jie to their ranks and see him as a backup to Harry Kane.

Louis Van Gaal made a pretty bold statement regarding Kane’s move earlier this month

“The striker is Wayne Rooney and we also have [Javier] Hernandez, [Adnan] Januzaj and [James] Wilson. It is not a special objective for me.”

“But when we can buy another striker who has a lot of qualities, more than our players, then we buy. But we have always done that.”

In conclusion, I would like to say that United could use Hernandez or Wilson as a backup to Rooney and Kane wouldn’t want to be a backup after an amazing season. So, this move seems highly unlikely and I see Kane as a Tottenham player for at least one more season.
