Is This Barcelona Star A Better Option For Arsenal To Sign Than Riyad Mahrez

Arsenal are in need of reinforcements for certain areas of their current squad, as manager Arsene Wenger looks to win more titles in the upcoming campaign. The French manager is in need of players who can provide him with more goals, after Olivier Giroud’s individual efforts went in vain last season, with Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck failing to support him due to various reasons.

Due to this, the Gunners’ boss has been looking for more quality stars to reduce the burden on his compatriot’s shoulders and after toiling hard in the transfer window has reached the doors of Leicester City once again.

This time, the player in the speculations is Algerian international Riyad Mahrez, with Wenger being recently given a boost in his chase to sign the attacker, as per claims.

Another alternative that the Arsenal main-man has is signing Barcelona’s Arda Turan, with The Sun reporting that the Chelsea target was available for a fee of £20m.

Wenger will be in a dilemma which player to choose, as he looks to reignite the lost flare in his attack prior to the start of the new campaign.

When provided the option of spending big, the best option would obviously to get both players. However, if Wenger had to sign one, either player would be an asset to his side.

Mahrez made a total of 39 appearances for the Foxes last term in all competitions with 18 goals and 11 assists to his name. In comparison to that, the Turkey international was given just 18 chances to showcase his talent for the Catalan giants, with the transfer embargo preventing him from playing for Barca till the start of 2016.

Further, the Leicester man was the best player in the top flight of English football last season and won the PFA Player of the year award last year, while Turan was busy trying to impress Luis Enrique at the Camp Nou.

Also, Mahrez has gained a good amount of experience of playing in the Premier League, during his time at the KP Stadium and is now used to the pace of football in England, whereas Turan will need some time to get used to it.

As stated previously, Wenger can’t take the risk of spending such a fee on a player and leave the possible results on luck. He has been trying for more than a decade now to get the club back to the days of glory and it is high time he delivered.

The fans last season made it quite clear about what they want and any number of excuses that the Frenchman now makes will not be tolerated.

Keeping that in mind, it is obvious that signing the winger from their rivals will not just be a better option for the Londoners, but will also weaken Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Also, Mahrez played the previous campaign on the right wing, while the Barca forward prefers to play on the left-hand side or center of the attack. Arsenal have Alexis Sanchez on the left and Mesut Ozil at the center and are looking to find a player, who can solve their problem on the right wing with Aaron Ramsey, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Theo Walcott not being up to the mark.

For this purpose, a winger who can naturally play there would be a much better option rather than enforcing to play in that position. Whatever be the eventual decision, Wenger does what he wants in the end and hopefully, he gets things sorted soon!!
