Predicted Hull City line-up to face Rotherham United in the Championship

Hull City have had a rough start to their Championship season after failing to win a game in three outings, gathering only one point to show on the table. Suddenly, a trip to Rotherham United becomes a tough game for the Tigers, who really need a win to boost their confidence.

Nigel Adkins’ men have shown promise in certain games but have failed to convert that into wins or draws. Hull have lost both the home games this season so far, hence, an away trip will be welcomed by the players. Rotherham won their only home league game against Ipswich Town, so it won’t be easy for the Tigers on a Tuesday night.

Team News

Reece Burke is still a doubt for this game, so Angus MacDonald should keep his place in central defence.

Probable Hull City XI

Manager: Nigel Adkins

Formation: 4-4-1-1

David Marshall (GK)

Marshall has been solid thus far, making crucial saves when needed. He needs to continue his good form as Hull City are not defending well at all.

David Marshall

Eric Lichaj (RB)

Lichaj has had a mixed bag season thus far. He needs to ensure that his defensive side of the game is good before making forays up the pitch.

Angus MacDonald (CB)

MacDonald was sloppy in the previous game, and he may only start on Tuesday because Burke is a doubt to play full 90 minutes.

Jordy de Wijs (CB)

He has also looked circumspect at times, which is not good news for Hull City. The team needs de Wijs to up his game a bit.

Stephen Kingsley (LB)

Had to be subbed off due to a head injury on Saturday but should be fit enough to start against Rotherham.

Todd Kane

Todd Kane (LW)

Kane has blown hot and cold so far this season. The 24-year-old needs to add consistency to his game or lose out on his place in the team.

Markus Henrikson (CM)

The skipper is the one to improve the team’s display and act a role model for players to follow. He hasn’t been living up to the expected levels yet.

Jon Toral (CM)

He came on from the bench last game after Kingsley was forced off. Couldn’t exert much pressure but was decent enough to deserve a start against Rotherham.

Jarrod Bowen

Jarrod Bowen (RW)

Bowen is also on the same lines as other Hull players in terms of being inconsistent on the pitch. For the Tigers to start winning games, they’d need the winger to play well and create chances.

Jackson Irvine (CAM)

With Evandro not performing well, Adkins may deploy Irvine in a role behind the striker. The Australian was impressive in the previous game.

Nouha Dicko (ST)

Fraizer Campbell hasn’t received too much service to feed on and as a result, he has a lot of running to do off the ball. The manager may give him a rest and hand Dicko an opportunity.
