Lionel Messi has the most number of assists in the history of La Liga

Barcelona and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi is one of the greatest footballers in the history of the game. The attacker is not only known for scoring goals but produces a ton of assists too.

The 32-year-old has won almost everything there is in club football and has a fantastic rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo.

That rivalry saw the pair push each other to greater limits. However, Ronaldo leaving Spain for Italy has taken a bit of the magic out of La Liga.

Messi hasn’t stopped producing magic and recently lifted another Ballon d’Or award. The Argentine was the reason why Barcelona won the Spanish league last season.

The forward scored 36 goals and provided 13 assists for Barcelona in the La Liga campaign last time around.

Messi has 13 goals and six assists in this season, and the La Liga handle wanted fans to predict how many assists the Argentine would by the end of the campaign.

The Argentine is known for scoring goals but his assist numbers are mind-boggling too.

Messi has produced 168 assists, the most in the history of La Liga, and there seems to be no stopping him.

The 32-year-old started his career off slowly with just two assists in each of his first couple of seasons.

However, he has registered double-digit assists since the 2007-08 season, except the 16/17 campaign.

The Argentine even recorded an incredible 18 assists each in the 11/12 and 14/15 seasons. That comes out to be one assist every other game.

Barcelona haven’t looked all that great this season but have a great chance of winning La Liga.

The Catalans lead the table from Real Madrid by a couple of points and are the top scorers in the competition too.

The Champions League will be another target for Messi after last year’s humiliation at the hands of Liverpool.
