Crystal Palace won the first home game of their season when they defeated a struggling Burnley 2-0 at Selhurst Park in an important Premier League encounter. James McArthur scored the opening goal when his cross crept in with enough deflection from Max Meyer to deter the Clarets keeper Joe Hart from saving it.
No one was even close to stopping the wonder strike from Andros Townsend just 13 minutes from time to seal three points for the Eagles. This win sends Roy Hodgson’s men up to 14th place in the table, three points away from the danger zone.
Didn’t have many saves to make but he did look rather clumsy while coming out to deal with the crosses.
Another good day in the office for the youngster, who did his job well at both ends of the field diligently. He is a real talent.
A solid performance from the Frenchman in keeping the Burnley strikers quiet for the whole game.
He was secure for most parts of the game. However, he got caught in possession a couple of times.
Had a couple of chances in the opposition half as he looked to go forward at every given opportunity. Did his defensive bit well too.
He was tenacious in the midfield, putting his foot in to win balls and keep the team moving forward. Should have done well when a chance arrived in the Burnley box, but dragged the shot wide.
He was an industrious player throughout the game, linking the play from the midfield and covering the ground to help the team.
This was probably the German’s best performance in a Palace shirt. He was involved in every positive thing. Had a couple of curling attempts at goal, only for Hart to deny him. He made it awkward for the keeper for the first goal.
Scored the goal in fortuitous circumstances but could have done with a couple of more chances. It was still one of his better displays.
Played up front alongside Wilfried Zaha but he drifted out wide to deliver teasing crosses into the box. Scored, plausibly, the goal of the weekend to seal the win.
The talisman could have done better with a couple of chances but Hart was in great form too. Struck the post once in the second half.
He came on when the two-goal lead had been established.
Had no time to make an impact.
