Impressive Gundogan, Fantastic Sane – The best & the worst rated Man City stars in the 5-0 win vs Cardiff City

Manchester City Player Ratings vs Cardiff – Here’s how the Cityzens fared

Manchester City erased some of their midweek memories with a thumping 5-0 win against Cardiff City. Goals from Sergio Aguero, Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and a late brace from Riyad Mahrez sealed an emphatic victory in Wales.

Manager Pep Guardiola would be delighted to see his team moving forward after a nightmare home loss to Lyon in the Champions League. New signing Mahrez scoring two late goals will help his confidence grow as well.

Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson (6)

Was never tested in goal. Remained calm and composed on the ball.

Kyle Walker (7)

Went forward with intent and caused trouble. Never had to track back or defend deep.

Nicolas Otamendi

Nicolas Otamendi (7.5)

Dominated the Cardiff attackers and looked calm at the back. Something City missed in midweek.

Aymeric Laporte (7)

The Frenchman was comfortable alongside Otamendi. Was commanding and secured.

Fabian Delph (7.5)

After missing a simple clearance in midweek, the Englishman was more secured and sharp in this game.

Fernandinho (8)

A composed figure in central midfield for the Cityzens. Never put a foot wrong.

Ilkay Gundogan

Ilkay Gundogan (9)

A fantastic performance from the German to drive the team from the midfield. Was crucial in the first, scored a lovely third and teed up for the fourth goal.

Bernardo Silva (8)

Another imperious display from Bernardo in the midfield. Assisted the first and scored an adroit back header, which only he knows if he meant that or not.

Raheem Sterling (7.5)

Almost unplayable at times with his runs at the defence. Along with that, his high work-rate was just phenomenal.

Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero (8)

Scored a superb goal after signing a new contract earlier in the week. Was a menace for the Cardiff defence to deal with.

Leroy Sane (8)

His pace and direct running into the Cardiff box scared the home side. Had an unselfish hand in two of the five goals.

Substitutes

Riyad Mahrez (Subbed on after 60 mins) (7)

His first two goals for the club. The second goal was a classy finish.

Phil Foden (Subbed on after 69 mins) (6)

Added creativity and energy in the midfield.
