Predicted Hull City Lineup To Face Aston Villa In Season Opener

The season is starting too early for Hull City as they surely do not have their squad the way they want it as. They have a tough trip on paper, to Aston Villa, and will be outsiders for sure.

Leonid Slutsky seems to prefer a 4-2-3-1 formation so we can probably expect that here, possibly with the following XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Leonid Slutsky

GK – David Marshall

Of Hull’s two Scottish ‘keepers, Marshall has a few years on McGregor and may get the nod at the start of the season.

RB – Ola Aina

The loan signing from Chelsea should slot in nicely, but lacks experience and may be exploited down the Villa left.

CB – Michael Hector

Another Chelsea loanee, Hector has more experience in this division and should do well.

CB – Michael Dawson

The mega-experienced captain is a rare shining light in the Hull squad these days and is sure to start.

LB – Moses Odubajo

The full-back may be asked to fill-in on the left after the departure of Andy Robertson, though the position is obviously up for grabs.

CM – Kevin Stewart

The former Liverpool man should be able to slot in where Tom Huddlestone was and form a decent partnership with Sam Clucas, for now at least.

Sam Clucas

CM – Sam Clucas

The fine midfielder could yet be destined for the Premier League but for now, he is still one of the classier players in this line-up.

RW – Kamil Grosicki

The Polish winger is another one who has been on the radar of the Premier League clubs and may or may not be here come September. But for now, he will be a crucial cog in the machine if Hull are to get a result here.

CAM – Markus Henriksen

The Dane is only 25 years old and has plenty more to give yet. Whether he is capable of supporting the front man is open to question though.

Kamil Grosicki

LW – Jarrod Bowen

The 20-year-old forward impressed in the club’s final pre-season game at Ajax in a 3-3 draw and would be hoping to get the chance to start this game. He clearly has a decent future at this level and may well surprise one or two people here.

ST – Abel Hernandez

The Uruguayan forward is no Luis Suarez but is capable of leading the line in the Championship. Hernandez has 11 goals in 29 games for his country and he may be the type of striker who could go under the radar this seaso. But he could be bang in with a chance of the Golden boot.
