Dream Barcelona XI featuring world-class Chelsea superstar N’golo Kante

Barcelona are keen to sign Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante in a player plus cash deal, which could see Andre Gomes moving to Stamford Bridge. The Catalans, after getting Arthur are probably looking for a dynamic midfielder like Kante to partner Sergio Busquets.

Manager Ernesto Valverde’s 4-4-1-1 formation will suit the Frenchman’s playing style, as he will have the calming influence of Busquets alongside him. In addition, this midfield partnership will help the likes of Phillipe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele to move forward without thinking of the defensive duties all the time.

Let us take a look the line-up which Valverde can field if Kante does move to Camp Nou:

Probable Barcelona XI featuring Kante

Manager: Ernesto Valverde

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (GK)

The German has done well in the past couple of seasons and has taken over the first-choice role at the club.

Nelson Semedo (RB)

The Portuguese right-back was slow to start his Barcelona career but seems to have come to grips in Spain.

Gerard Pique (CB)

The ever-present Pique will seek to continue the good work he has been doing for the club at the back. He will be partnered by an energetic Samuel Umtiti.

Samuel Umtiti (CB)

The Frenchman has had a fantastic World Cup and after signing a new deal, he will look to relish the opportunity of playing a long-term role for Barcelona.

Samuel Umtiti

Jordi Alba (LB)

Alba has been an epitome of consistency in the left-back area for the Catalans. He will continue to take that position and supply width down the left-hand side. The Spaniard will find more space as Coutinho loves to tuck-in from inside the left channel.

N’Golo Kante (CDM)

Kante can be deployed as a defensive midfielder, shielding his defence and covering the ground to support the fullbacks moving forward. His recoveries will awe the whole of Camp Nou.

Sergio Busquets (CM)

With Kante alongside him, Busquets will have a much freer role to play. The Spaniard is a gem with the ball and he can use it more effectively, knowing there is protection behind him.

Phillipe Coutinho (Inside LW)

Coutinho will play in a more central role to make space for Alba outside. The Brazilian is a fabulous technician with the ball and expect him to be deadly from long distance as well.

Ousmane Dembele (RW)

Dembele had a terrible last season due to injuries but is ready to set the stage alight at Camp Nou. He can keep the width down that right-hand side and run past defenders with ease. His pace will allow Lionel Messi to play in the pockets of space, as the defenders will prefer to stay deep.

Ousmane Dembele

Lionel Messi (SS)

The great man doesn’t need any specific position to impact the game, however, he can terrorise defences by staying close to the striker and operating in the pockets of space.

Luis Suarez (ST)

The Uruguayan will work his socks off leading the line, creating subtle angles for midfield runners. He’s a deadly finisher and can kill games off for the Catalans.
