France manager Didier Deschamps’ squad selection for the upcoming World Cup has been a mixture of surprise and gamble work.

He has mostly preferred in-form and young talents over experienced campaigners. Now, this may bode well if the Les Bleus do well in the competition but if it backfires, Deschamps might have to answer many questions.

Let us try and figure out what would be the best line-up that France field at the main event in Russia. Surely, France are capable of winning the World Cup of Deschamps finds his best combination of players.

Best France XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Didier Deschamps

Hugo Lloris (Goalkeeper)

With all due respect to the ones selected, France are possibly not blessed with high-quality goalkeepers. If we choose the best, then Hugo Lloris is by far the best one. So he will certainly start in goal.

Djibril Sidibe (Right-back)

For a long time, Bacary Sagna was the right-back for France. Now, Monaco full-back Djibril Sidibe is expected to start here. He is a very good, pacy and physical player who is capable of replacing Sagna.

Raphael Varane (Centre-Back)

As far as the best centre-backs in Europe are concerned, Raphael Varane is right up there. He will surely start for Deschamps’ men. The Real Madrid star is tall, physical and has a good pace for a central defender.

Samuel Umtiti

Samuel Umtiti (Centre-Back)

Umtiti is a Barcelona regular and is very much certain to start alongside Varane. Earlier, there was a chance for Laurent Koscielny to start but his ankle injury has ruled him out of the tournament.

Benjamin Mendy (left-back)

Mendy hasn’t had a full season for Manchester City due to a long-term injury. But he has come back strong and that may just be enough to start for his country.

N’Golo Kante (Defensive midfielder)

Probably the first name on the team sheet is N’Golo Kante from Chelsea. He, at times, plays for two players in midfield, which allows his teammates ahead of him to express their attacking abilities.

Paul Pogba

Blaise Matuidi (Central midfielder)

Matuidi has had a good season with Juventus and is a brilliant choice for France in a box to box role.

Paul Pogba (Central midfielder)

The Manchester United midfielder hasn’t justified his hefty price tag yet but has the quality to prove everyone wrong on the biggest of stages. With Kante behind him as the shield, he would be happier to play in a position where he can influence the attacks.

Antoine Griezmann (Left-wing)

Another player of the highest quality who is probably one of the first few names to be on the team sheet. He has had a good season with Atletico Madrid and is expected to start.

Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud (Striker)

He is probably not liked by many but Giroud has done well for his country and Deschamps prefers him as a physical option up top. He has played few games for Chelsea and should start for France as well.

Kylian Mbappe (Right-wing)

The young sensation is set to fire up the biggest stage of all. He has two very good domestic seasons under his belt now and if he dreams of bigger moves in the future, he might have to do well in this World Cup. A certain starter.
