Tottenham line-up featuring Wilmar Barrios

As per reports, Wilmar Barrios has informed Boca Juniors that he will be joining Tottenham Hotspur this summer with ‘everything arranged’.

Spurs are expected to pay his €16m release clause, having already agreed to personal terms with the Colombian midfielder.

Barrios, who starred for Colombia in the ongoing World Cup, is one of six foreigners in the Boca Juniors squad, the maximum they are permitted. Gustavo Gomez looks set to join Boca Juniors from AC Milan, which means they would be surpassing their quota for foreign players, in turn making Barrios available for transfer.

So without further ado, let us have a look at Tottenham lineup featuring Wilmar Barrios.

Tottenham XI featuring Wilmar Barrios

Manager: Mauricio Pochettino

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Hugo Lloris (GK)

Tottenham’s undisputed No.1 in goal, Lloris is set to keep his place in the starting XI next season.

Kieran Trippier (RB)

Trippier has been fantastic for England in the ongoing World Cup and has played a crucial role in helping them reach the quarterfinals. His impressive form could well keep him as the starter at right-back for Spurs.

Davinson Sanchez (CB)

Sanchez may not have had a fantastic World Cup but he has already established himself as a regular in Tottenham’s defence last term. That isn’t changing in the 2018/19 campaign either.

Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen (CB)

Tottenham’s defensive lynchpin, Jan Vertonghen has succeeded in transforming his club form onto international level in the World Cup, although he made a rare mistake in Japan’s opener against Belgium in the round of 16. The 31-year-old did make amends by scoring against Japan as Belgium came from two goals down to beat the Asian giants 3-2.

Ben Davies (LB)

Reliable and intelligent, Davies may lack the pace needed in a full-back but he certainly makes up for it with his understanding of the game.

Eric Dier (CM)

One of the indispensable figures at the club, Dier has been a consistent performer over the years and should start in the midfield next season.

Wilmar Barrios (CM)

Barrios is a defensive midfielder by trade and is the right man to shield Spurs’ backline alongside Dier.

Christian Eriksen (LW)

Tottenham’s creative hub, Eriksen is a wily customer who is one of the most underrated players in the Premier League. The Dane is a gifted midfielder with a penchant for producing magical moments.

Dele Alli (CAM)

Alli blew hot and cold last season but there is no doubting his ability to turn things around in a blink of an eye. He is a sure starter for Tottenham next season.

Lucas Moura (RW)

With Son Heung-min likely to miss the start of the season due to his international commitment with South Korea at the Asian Games, Lucas Moura would have the brilliant chance to stake a claim. Moura, with his agility and pace, has shown what a direct attacking threat he can be and may just need a run of regular games in a Tottenham shirt to come to life.

Harry Kane (ST)

With six goals in three games in Russia, Harry Kane is leading the way for the Golden Boot at this year’s World Cup. He has enjoyed a sensational tournament so far and is probably the first name on the teamsheet.
