Predicted Newcastle United line-up to face Everton in the Premier League
The three-game winning streak of Newcastle United came to an end when West Ham went to St.James’ Park and got a win. Now, the Magpies will be hoping to strike back when they face Everton away at Goodison park this Wednesday night.
Rafa Benitez’s men are currently sitting 15th in the table, three points clear of the drop zone. They are up against a Toffees side who lost their Merseyside derby on Sunday to a freakish late goal. Hence, it won’t be easy for Newcastle as the home team will be looking to bounce back as well.
Team News
Matt Ritchie is suspended for this game after picking up five yellow cards. Paul Dummett and Yoshinori Muto are close to full fitness but the Wednesday game might come too soon. Florian Lejeune is a long-term absentee.
Probable Newcastle United XI
Formation: 4-5-1
Manager: Rafa Benitez
Martin Dubravka (GK)
He starts every league game for the Magpies unless there is an injury issue. The Slovakian is such an important player for them in goal.
DeAndre Yedlin (RB)
The American full-back needs to be defensively astute against the likes of Bernard and Lucas Digne.
Jamaal Lascelles (CB)
The captain was fit enough to be on the bench on Saturday. He should be fit to start on Wednesday.
Federico Fernandez (CB)
The summer signing has done well to settle into the team and lead the back-line in the absence of Lascelles.
Javier Manquillo (LB)
With Dummett still an injury doubt, we might see Manquillo get another chance at left-back.
Ki Sung-Yueng (CM)
The South Korean has done well ever since he started playing games on a regular basis. He is irreplaceable in the midfield right now.
Jonjo Shelvey (CM)
The creativity of Shelvey will be key on the break against a defensively solid Everton team.
Mohamed Diame (CM)
The work rate of Diame on and off the ball will be vital to the Magpies in this away game.
Jacob Murphy (LW)
With Ritchie suspended for this game, we might see Murphy starting at left-back.
Salomon Rondon (ST)
The Venezuelan will be looking to physically dominate the Everton centre-backs and win headers from crosses to test Jordan Pickford’s confidence.
Kenedy (RW)
The Brazilian has been decent so far this season, hugging the touchline and putting some good crosses into the box.
