Predicted Middlesbrough line-up to face Wigan Athletic

Middlesbrough were unable to get past Stoke City last weekend as both sides were made to settle for 0-0 draw at the Bet365 stadium. Failing to pick up a win has seen Tony Pulis’ men drop to 4th in the table.

They must definitely go for the win when they come up against Wigan Athletic in the Championship this weekend.

Team News

Ryan Shotton and Sam McQueen are the only absentees for Boro. Apart from that, Pulis will have a fully fit and firing squad to pick from. Changes could be made though.

Middlesbrough predicted XI

Manager: Tony Pulis

Formation: 4-3-3

Darren Randolph (GK)

Made a couple of important saves against the Potters last time out. Should keep his place in goal.

Dael Fry (RB)

Fry has defended well but the full-back needs to offer more support going forward.

Danny Batth (CB)

The 28-year-old was defensively solid in the last game. He should lead the line from the back for this one as well.

Aden Flint (CB)

The centre-back has looked good alongside Batth this season. He has stepped up in the absence of Ben Gibson.

George Friend (LB)

Friend has looked impressive throughout the season and is one of their best performers.

Jonny Howson (RCM)

Howson is yet to score a goal this season and this could be the game for him to open his account.

Adam Clayton (CM)

Has been defensively good and his distribution has been fruitful.

Muhamed Besic (LCM)

Besic seems to have revived his career after making the move. The midfielder should now maintain consistency.

Stewart Downing (LW)

Downing is always a threat with his teasing balls into the box. More of the same will be needed for this game.

Stewart Downing

Jordan Hugill (ST)

No goals for the striker this season and he must get one in to build on his confidence.

Martin Braithwaite (LW)

He has looked venomous at times this season but needs to find his scoring form once again.
