Crystal Palace vs Manchester City predictions: Manchester City line-up

After a disappointing performance in the Champions League against Tottenham, Manchester City travel to Selhurst Park to take on a Crystal Palace side who have won 3 out of their last 5 games.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been in fine form in the Premier League, having won each of their last 8 games. The defending champions will go above Liverpool with a victory and City have very little margin for error if they are to retain their title.

Team News

The Cityzens have most of their injured players back except long-term absentee Claudio Bravo and young Ukranian Oleksandr Zinchenko. Bernardo Silva is expected to recover from his thigh strain and be available for selection after missing out on the Champions League game in midweek.

Probable Manchester City XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Pep Guardiola

Ederson (GK)

The Brazilian is City’s only available first-team goalkeeper and he should start the game on Sunday.

Kyle Walker (RB)

The former Tottenham man couldn’t really leave a mark on his former side in midweek but his pace down the right flank has been an asset to City since his arrival. He should start again against Palace.

John Stones (CB)

The Englishman was on the bench against Tottenham in the midweek but he should start ahead of Aymeric Laporte, who deserves a break.

Nicolas Otamendi (CB)

The Argentine has failed to recreate his incredible form of last season but he is still a very good defender. He should start again on Sunday.

Benjamin Mendy (LB)

The Frenchman was left on the bench in favour of Fabian Delph against Spurs but he should return to the starting line-up against Palace on Sunday.

Fernandinho (CM)

The Brazilian had a tough evening against Tottenham but he has been one of City’s most important players since Guardiola’s arrival. He is expected to continue at the heart of the midfield at the weekend.

Kevin de Bruyne (CM)

The Belgian was used off the bench against Tottenham and he would be fresh. He should return to the starting eleven on Sunday.

Ilkay Gundogan (CM)

Gundogan brilliantly filled the void created by Fernandinho when he was injured but he can now return to his natural box-to-box role next to the Brazilian.

Leroy Sane (LW)

The former Schalke man hasn’t had the impact he had last season but is still a dangerous customer for the opposition to deal with. His battle with Wan-Bissaka will be an important one.

Riyad Mahrez (RW)

The Algerian had a better game against Spurs than most of his teammates and he deserves to keep hold of his place in the side over the returning Bernardo Silva.

Gabriel Jesus (ST)

The Brazilian came on for Aguero in the second half and looked sharp. He is expected to start ahead of the Argentine, who should be rested for the second leg tie against Spurs on Wednesday.
