Predicted Manchester United line-up to face Cardiff in the Premier League

A new era begins for Manchester United on Saturday as the Red Devils face Cardiff City for the first time following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United sacked Jose Mourinho on Tuesday following the club’s 3-1 defeat at Liverpool and appointed former player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the interim manager. Solskjaer will be eager to improve United’s form and guide them to three points against his former employers, Cardiff City.

Cardiff City, meanwhile, are 16th in the table and have won two of their last five games to climb out of the relegation zone.

Team News

Manchester United were boosted by the return of Victor Lindelof and Anthony Martial against Liverpool.

Chris Smalling and Luke Shaw remain doubtful for the Cardiff game. Alexis Sanchez, meanwhile, is out injured until the New Year.

Probable Manchester United XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

David De Gea (GK)

One of the world’s best goalkeepers, De Gea is set to retain his place in the team.

Diogo Dalot (RB)

Dalot has done well in the limited games he has played for Manchester United. The youngster could be handed a start at right-back.

Eric Bailly (CB)

Hard as a nail, Bailly would look to impress the new manager and cement his place in the team.

Victor Lindelof (CB)

Back from injury, Lindelof struggled against Liverpool’s nippy attackers. But he could be given a chance to redeem himself at Cardiff.

Ashley Young (LB)

With Shaw a doubt, Young is expected to start at left-back.

Paul Pogba

Nemanja Matic (CDM)

Matic has come under a lot of fire for his performances this season. The Serb, however, will look to impress the new manager by dishing out a solid display.

Paul Pogba (LCM)

With Mourinho gone, United fans will hope Pogba gets back his mojo under Solskjaer and starts dictating games.

Ander Herrera (RCM)

Herrera has had a start-stop season so far and he’ll look to nail down a regular place in the team.

Jesse Lingard (RW)

Lingard’s movement and ability to pick out important spaces could cause Cardiff’s defence a lot of problems on Saturday.

Anthony Martial (LW)

Blessed with a solid technique, speed and dribbling skills, Martial will look to get on the score-sheet at Cardiff.
