Predicted 4-3-3 Chelsea XI to face Wolves in the Premier League

The international break is finally over and Chelsea will return to Premier League action this Saturday when the Blues make the trip to Molineux to face a struggling Wolves side.

With only a solitary win in their first four league games, the Blues currently find themselves 11th in the standings and Frank Lampard will be hoping for a turnaround of fortunes against Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, who have lost three out of their first four games in the Premier League.

Both teams have plenty to play for early in the campaign and Saturday’s clash at Molineux apparently has all the makings of a thrilling end-to-end contest.

Team News

Emerson Palmieri is the last addition to Chelsea’s injury list during the recent international break, while Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Reece James are also ruled out for the weekend clash.

Mateo Kovacic (calf), Callum Hudson-Odoi (calf) and Pedro (hamstring) are all struggling to shrug off their respective injuries but Antonio Rudiger is in line for a return to the team after missing the first four games.

N’Golo Kante was rested during the international break and the Frenchman will also be pushing for a return to first-team action on Saturday.

Manager: Frank Lampard

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted XI

1. Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK)

The Spaniard is yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League this term but he can’t be faulted for most of the goals that the Blues have conceded thus far.

2. Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)

The veteran has come under scrutiny for some lacklustre displays early in the season and he will be looking to step up his game this weekend.

3. Antonio Rudiger (CB)

Chelsea have shipped 9 goals in their first 4 games and it will be intriguing to see what kind of an impact the German international makes on his return to the heart of the defence.

4. Andreas Christensen (CB)

The Dane has done a decent job at the back thus far and he certainly deserves a start ahead of Kurt Zouma, who has found life difficult in the early stages of the campaign.

5. Marcos Alonso (LB)

He has been frozen out of the eleven by Lampard this season but the injury to Emerson is likely to open the door for the Spaniard to get his first league start this term.

6. Jorginho (CDM)

The former Napoli man has added a lot more variety to his game under Lampard and he will once again be entrusted with the job of holding things together in the middle of the park.

7. N’Golo Kante (RCM)

The Frenchman has endured a slow start to the campaign due to his fitness issues but he should be ready to play a big role on Saturday after being rested during the international break.

8. Ross Barkley (LCM)

The England international will be high on confidence after featuring in back-to-back victories over Bulgaria and Kosovo during the international break and Lampard will be expecting him to continue his rich vein of form.

9. Mason Mount (LW)

The academy graduate has really come of age in the Premier League this season, establishing himself as one of the Lampard’s trusted lieutenants with a series of impressive displays.

10. Christian Pulisic (RW)

The fans are yet to see the best of the former Borussia Dortmund man but he has probably done enough to earn a start ahead of Willian, who hasn’t looked anywhere near his best.

11. Tammy Abraham (ST)

Having bagged back-to-back braces against Norwich City and Sheffield United, Chelsea’s young No.9 is in supreme touch at the moment and all eyes will once again be on him this weekend.
