Predicted Chelsea XI to face Burnley in the Premier League

Frank Lampard enjoyed a statement night as a manager as Chelsea overcame Ajax 1-0 away from home on Matchday 3 of the UEFA Champions League and the Blues will be the favourites to claim all three points when they make the trip to Turf Moor to face Burnley in the Premier League on Saturday.

Chelsea have won each of their last six games in all competitions and they will be looking to make it seven in a row against a Burnley side that has lost only once at home to Liverpool this term.

The Clarets currently sit 8th in the standings following an impressive start to the season and but they are going to have their work cut out against Chelsea, who are 4th in the standings after a series of impressive results in the Premier League.

Team News

Antonio Rudiger and N’Golo Kante (both groin) are unlikely to feature against Burnley on Saturday, although the latter hasn’t been completely ruled out just yet.

Emerson Palmieri is expected to be a part of the squad after making the bench against Ajax but Ross Barkley is doubtful to play a part due to an ankle problem.

Andrea Christensen is ruled out while the trip to Turf Moor also comes too soon for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who is on the recovery trail from a long-term calf injury.

Manager: Frank Lampard

Formation: 4-3-3

Predicted XI

1. Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK)

The Spaniard didn’t have too many saves to make against Ajax but he looked comfortable with his handling and has always been the undisputed starter for the Blues between the sticks.

2. Cesar Azpilicueta (RB)

The veteran put in a captain’s performance against Ajax and made several crucial blocks to keep the Dutch outfit at bay.

3. Fikayo Tomori (CB)

The youngster seems to be growing in confidence with each passing game and Lampard should continue to rely on him after a commanding display in the Champions League.

4. Kurt Zouma (CB)

The Frenchman has overcome a shaky start to the season with a string of impressive performances at the heart of the backline and he is likely to continue in the absence of Rudiger and Christensen.

5. Marcos Alonso (LB)

The Spaniard scored the winner against Newcastle last weekend and followed it up with another good all-round display against Ajax.

6. Jorginho (CDM)

The former Napoli star continues to be the unheralded genius in Chelsea’s midfield, spraying passes for fun and controlling the play with his immaculate distribution.

7. Mateo Kovacic (RCM)

The Croatian has been impressive in the last couple of games and he is likely to continue in the midfield, with Kante and Barkley doubtful to feature.

8. Mason Mount (LCM)

The academy graduate has been quite superb this season and has turned into a real asset to the club with his excellent all-round gameplay and impressive work-rate.

9. Christian Pulisic (LW)

The United States international made a telling impact from the bench in the victories over Newcastle and Ajax and he might get a start ahead of Hudson-Odoi this weekend.

10. Willian (RW)

The Brazilian has turned back the clock with his consistent displays in October and Lampard is unlikely to drop him for this one unless, of course, he needs a bit of a breather.

11. Tammy Abraham (ST)

Chelsea’s new No.9 has failed to score in the last couple of games but he has been impressive, nonetheless, and the fans will be looking forward to him adding to his tally on Saturday.
