Predicted Arsenal XI to face Watford in the Premier League

Arsenal will be making the trip to Vicarage Road to face Watford on Saturday when Premier League action resumes after the first international break of the season.

The Gunners completed a remarkable comeback against bitter rivals Spurs at home to earn a vital point in a 2-2 draw in the North London derby heading into the international break and Unai Emery’s side will be looking to capitalise on their solid start to the season when they face the Hornets this weekend.

Watford grabbed the headlines during the break with the dismissal of Javi Gracia and the subsequent appointment of former manager Quique Sanchez Flores at the helm of affairs and it will be interesting to see whether that can spark a turnaround of fortunes for the Hornets, who have lost three of their first four games in the Premier League.

Unai Emery will be a worried man heading into the weekend clash against Watford, with midfielders Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka doubtful to play a part after picking up injuries during the international break.

Kieran Tierney (groin), Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin) and Hector Bellerin (knee) are all ruled out, although Arsenal will be hopeful of having the services of Joe Willock, who missed the international duty as a precautionary measure.

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Unai Emery

Predicted XI

1. Bernd Leno (GK)

The German was hardly at fault for either of Tottenham’s goals in the last game and he will be expected to retain his position as the undisputed No.1 between the sticks.

2. Ainsley Maitland-Niles (RB)

The talented youngster has done pretty well on the right-hand side of the backline in the absence of Bellerin and he certainly deserves to continue as a starter.

3. David Luiz (CB)

The former Chelsea man has already come under scrutiny numerous times early in the season for his poor decision-making at the back and he will be expected to put in a better performance this weekend.

4. Sokratis (CB)

He has looked a lot more solid than his central defensive partner and the Gunners will need his presence to cope with Watford’s attacking threat.

5. Sead Kolasinac (LB)

Exciting in the attack but still a tad vulnerable at the back, the Bosnian will need to do a lot more if he is to continue as a regular starter for the Gunners.

6. Matteo Guendouzi (CM)

The French starlet has by far been Arsenal’s most productive midfield outlet this season and his energy and tenacity could once again make the difference for the Gunners on Saturday.

7. Joe Willock (CM)

The academy graduate has really come of age to establish himself as one of the mainstays of the club’s midfield this term and the fans will be hoping that he continues his rich vein of form.

8. Dani Ceballos (CAM)

The Real Madrid loanee featured for Spain during the international break and he definitely deserves a start against Watford after playing a key role in the victory over Burnley last month.

9, Nicolas Pepe (RW)

The fans are yet to see the best of their club-record signing in the Premier League and this might well be the game where he justifies his price tag.
