Sheffield Wednesday vs Preston prediction: Sheffield Wednesday line-up

Sheffield Wednesday travel to Deepdale to face Preston North End as they look to keep pace at the top end of the table.

The Owls edged past Luton Town on Wednesday, thanks to a 54th-minute strike from Kadeem Harris. Lee Bullen will be hoping to see an improvement in his team’s performance on Saturday at Deepdale.

Preston North End, on the other hand, will head into this game with confidence after a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Stoke City in midweek.

Team News

Joe Wildsmith has been ruled out for three months with a knee injury. Dominic Iorfa and Liam Palmer remain doubtful for the trip to Preston.

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Lee Bullen

Kieran Westwood (GK)

Westwood is Wednesday’s first-choice keeper and should start against Preston on Saturday.

Moses Odubajo (RB)

With Iorfa doubtful, Odubajo should continue at right-back.

Tom Lees (CB)

The clean sheet against Luton Town will certainly boost the confidence in the Wednesday defenders, especially Lees and Borner. He would be aiming to keep another clean sheet tomorrow.

Julian Borner (CB)

Summer signing Julian Borner has done well so far and he should partner Lees against Preston.

Morgan Fox (LB)

At left-back, Fox should again be given the nod by Bullen for Saturday’s game.

Sam Hutchinson (CM)

Hutchinson is the player who controls the tempo of the game for the Owls. He is crucial to Bullen’s setup and is a certainty to start.

Barry Bannan (CM)

Bannan has the ability to pick a pass in the final third, but after a poor game against Luton, he’ll be keen to improve at Preston.

Jacob Murphy (RW)

On loan from Newcastle, Murphy will look to deliver the goods against Preston and guide Wednesday to all three points.

Adam Reach (CAM)

Reach couldn’t influence the previous game as much as he would have liked to and will look to improve at Deepdale.

Kadeem Harris (LW)

Harris scored the winner for Wednesday against Luton last game. He’ll be looking to impress the manager and get on the scoresheet again.

Steven Fletcher (ST)

Fletcher is Wednesday’s first-choice striker as he is an experienced player who can hold the ball up and link up the play well. He’ll be eager to get on the scoresheet at the weekend.
