Predicted Rangers line-up to face St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership

Rangers travel to McDiarmid Park to face St Johnstone on Sunday as Steven Gerrard eyes top spot in the Scottish Premiership table.

Gerrard’s side dropped points in midweek at Hibernian as Neil Lennon’s team held the Gers to a frustrating 0-0 draw.

Rangers will hope to bounce back at St. Johnstone, who come into this fixture on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Motherwell.

Team News

Scott Arfield came off at half-time against Hibernian with a hamstring problem that certainly rules him out of Sunday’s game. Liverpool cutting Ovie Ejaria’s loan move short leaves Gerrard with no natural No.10 ahead of this clash.

Gareth McAuley went off injured and fellow centre-back Connor Goldson suffered a knock in the 0-0 stalemate at Hibernian.

Probable Rangers XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Steven Gerrard

Allan McGregor (GK)

McGregor is one of the prime reasons why Rangers are second in the table. He is definitely going to start on Sunday.

James Tavernier

James Tavernier (RB)

Tavernier is Gerrard’s first-choice right-back and is expected to start again at the weekend.

Connor Goldson (CB)

Goldson could shake off the knock he sustained at Hibernian and play against St Johnstone.

Joe Worrall (CB)

With McAuley doubtful, Worrall could be handed a start. He should start alongside Goldson in central defence.

Borna Barisic (LB)

Barisic is slowly getting back to his old self after returning from injury. He needs a run of games at the moment.

Ryan Jack (CM)

Jack is a very good passer of the ball and generally tends to keep things simple in the middle of the park.

Lassana Coulibaly (CM)

Coulibaly adds steel to the midfield and is expected to start alongside Jack against St Johnstone.

Glenn Middleton (LW)

Middleton could get the nod at left wing and the teenager will look to cause troubles to the St Johnstone backline with his searing pace.

Eros Grezda (CAM)

Due to a lack of a natural No.10, Grezda could be deployed in that position on Sunday. The Albanian would look to redeem himself after putting in a forgettable performance in the midweek.

Daniel Candeias (RW)

On the right, Candeias is expected to start. A good crosser of the ball, the Portuguese will look to unlock the St Johnstone defence in every way possible.

Alfredo Morelos (ST)

Morelos will give the St Johnstone defenders a run for their money with his movement and link-up play. He is surely going to start for Rangers at McDiarmid Park.
