Predicted Middlesbrough line-up to face Blackburn in the Championship

Middlesbrough were well beaten by Aston Villa last weekend as they fell out of the top two on the table. Boro were unable to find the back of the net and Dean Smith’s side dominated them. Tony Pulis will definitely be aiming for a better performance when they come up against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

The Rovers are on the back of a win against Sheffield Wednesday and will be in good confidence coming into this game. Tony Pulis should set up his side in such a way that they are defensively more stable.

Team News

Ryan Shotton, Sam McQueen and Rudy Gestede are the only absentees for Middlesbrough at the moment. Apart from that, Pulis has no other injury concerns to worry about.

Probable Middlesbrough XI

Manager: Tony Pulis

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Darren Randolph (GK)

Endured a horror outing against Villa last time out. He will continue between the sticks for this game as well.

Aden Flint

Dael Fry (RB)

Fry was defensively very poor in the last game and needs to do better as they welcome the Rovers.

Aden Flint (CB)

Made a couple of important headers but he was unable to help Boro on the night. He will continue in central defence for this game as well.

Danny Batth (CB)

Batth has been an able partner to Flint this season. He should continue to partner him for this game as well.

George Friend (LB)

Had a very bad outing against the Villans, which saw him pick up a yellow for sloppy defending as well. He should do better in this game.

Adam Clayton

Adam Clayton (RCM)

Failed to break down the attack and press the midfield last time out. He has otherwise been in good form.

Muhamed Besic (LCM)

Besic has helped shore things up in the middle but he needs to be more consistent in his displays.

Stewart Downing (RAM)

Downing will cause all sorts of problems with his dribbling and dangerous deliveries into the area.

Jonny Howson (CAM)

Howson failed to create chances against Aston Villa and he has to step up for this game.

Marcus Tavernier (LAM)

The youngster has been very impressive and could cause problems for the Rovers’ backline in this game.

Jordan Hugill (ST)

Hugill has found the net since coming into the side but his goals have to come in on a regular basis.
