Leeds United vs Barnsley prediction: Leeds United line-up
Leeds United will travel to Oakwell to face Barnsley in a Championship fixture on Sunday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have enjoyed a good start to the 2019/20 campaign but went into the international break off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Swansea City.
The Whites’ opponents on Sunday, Barnsley are struggling in the bottom half of the table having picked up just five points after six games.
Team News
Marcelo Bielsa has received a positive injury update on Tyler Roberts, who returned to action for Leeds United’s under-23s on Monday. But he’s unlikely to be a part of the travelling squad on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Luke Ayling is still going to be another month away from first-team action as he looks to recover from an ankle injury.
Probable Leeds United XI
Formation: 4-1-4-1
Manager: Marcelo Bielsa
Kiko Casilla (GK)
Casilla is the first-choice goalkeeper for Leeds United and he is expected to retain his place in the team.
Stuart Dallas (RB)
Pacey, energetic, hardworking with good crossing ability, Dallas will continue at right-back for the Whites.
Ben White (CB)
White has looked assured at the back since signing for Bielsa’s side. He will continue in central defence.
Liam Cooper (CB)
A leader and a good organiser at the back, Cooper will partner White in defence against Barnsley.
Ezgjan Alioski (LB)
Alioski offers more threat than Douglas going forward which should see him start at left-back once again.
Kalvin Phillips (CDM)
Phillips is one of the best midfielders in the Championship and is an undoubted starter against Barnsley.
Pablo Hernandez (RW)
Hernandez is Leeds’ major outlet for creativity. He will start on the right flank at the weekend.
Adam Forshaw (LCM)
Forshaw has been fantastic for Bielsa’s side so far this season and deserves to start at Barnsley.
Mateusz Klich (RCM)
Klich adds a lot of energy and tenacity to the Whites attack. The Pole will be eager to get on the score sheet at the weekend.
Jack Harrison (LW)
Harrison has to start delivering the goods or risk losing his spot in the first team. For now, he’ll keep his place on the left flank.
