Predicted Sheffield Wednesday line-up to face Sheffield United

Sheffield Wednesday will be aiming to put aside their demoralising 4-0 home loss to Norwich City when they face Sheffield United at the Bramall Lane in this season’s first Sheffield derby on Friday. The Owls are now 17th in the table after the Canaries defeat and should fare better in a local derby clash.

They now face a Sheffield United team, who are third in the Championship standings just a point behind the leaders Leeds United. Hence, it is clear that Jos Luhukay’s men won’t find it easy, especially given the fact that this is an away game.

Team News

Marco Matias and Fernando Forestieri are in line to feature in this game on Friday. Kieran Lee, Gary Hooper and Sam Winnall are also out for one to two months.

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday XI

Formation – 3-4-2-1

Manager – Jos Luhukay

Cameron Dawson (GK)

The goalkeeper has been a solid presence in goal for the Owls. He should have done a bit better last week against Norwich though.

Tom Lees

Tom Lees (RCB)

The captain has struggled for form in the past few weeks. He should up his game in the derby away from home. Stakes couldn’t be much high.

Michael Hector (CB)

He was benched against the Canaries and the Owls defence didn’t look great. Hence, there is a case for the defender to come back into the lineup.

Daniel Pudil (LCB)

The veteran was left powerless last week, probably the three at the back formation would help.

Liam Palmer (RWB)

Palmer struggled to venture forward from the right-back position, the right wing-back slot may suit him a bit more.

Joey Pelupessy (CM)

The Owls fans are yet to see the best of Pelupessy. He should turn up in such a high-profile game.

Barry Bannan

Barry Bannan (CM)

Luhukay would be hoping that Bannan is at his best against the Blades in order to have some control in midfield.

Matt Penney (LWB)

He would probably enjoy if deployed as a left wing-back, as he makes runs forward to trouble the opposition on a regular basis.

Adam Reach (LW)

Reach has been one of the best attackers for Wednesday this season. He always tries to make things happen for the team.

Fernando Forestieri (RW)

He is scheduled to feature on Friday after the injury layoff, as per the updates. The Argentine can play on the right wing, tucked in to support the striker.

Steven Fletcher

Steven Fletcher (ST)

The experienced centre-forward has been in decent enough form to start ahead of Atdhe Nuhiu in this game.
