[Image] Predicted 3-4-2-1 Sheffield Wednesday XI to face Rotherham – can the Owls get an important win?

Predicted Sheffield Wednesday line-up to face Rotherham in the Championship

Sheffield Wednesday will be aiming to get back to winning ways when they face fellow strugglers Rotherham United this weekend in the Championship at the Hillsborough stadium. The Owls lost to Blackburn Rovers last week to slip down to 16th position in the table, five points clear of the drop zone.

They are up against a Rotherham side who lost to leaders Norwich City last week after gaining some kind of form prior to that. They are 20th in the standings, just two points clear of the drop zone. Hence, it is a pivotal game for both teams.

Team News

Fernando Forestieri hobbled off after coming on at half-time last week, hence, he is a doubt. Gary Hooper and Kieran Lee are out for long-term while Sam Winnall is closing in on a return. Almen Abdi is back in training.

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

Formation: 3-4-2-1

Manager: Jos Luhukay

Cameron Dawson (GK)

At times, his saves are remarkable and timely, and sometimes it feels like he should have done better. Overall, a positive season so far and he needs to continue that way.

Tom Lees

Tom Lees (RCB)

The skipper has looked comfortable when playing in a back-three system and Luhukay should switch to that.

Michael Hector (CB)

The loanee from Chelsea struggled in a back four. He too is rather at ease when operating in a back-three.

Jordan Thorniley (LCB)

He was left isolated as a left-back against Blackburn last week. It is better if he reverts to his best position – centre-back.

Liam Palmer (RWB)

A little more freedom when playing at right wing-back could help Palmer.

Barry Bannan

Matt Penney (LWB)

The youngster should get an opportunity at left wing-back if Luhukay reverts to a back-three formation.

Barry Bannan (CM)

Wednesday fans would be hoping Bannan is up for it in an important game for the team.

Josh Onomah (CM)

Joey Pelupessy was nothing short of a disaster against Blackburn. It is maybe time for Onomah to get a start.

Adam Reach (LW)

He is one of the influential attackers on the field for the Owls. His goals and creativity will be vital.

Steven Fletcher

Lucas Joao (RW)

He can either play as a right winger or join the striker when in possession to provide an added headache to the defenders.

Steven Fletcher (ST)

The 3-4-2-1 system will help the striker as he would have more support from the wide attackers, which was not the case in 4-2-3-1 shape.
