Predicted Sheffield Wednesday line-up to face QPR in the Championship

Sheffield Wednesday are on the travel this midweek, with an away game at Queens Park Rangers awaiting in the Championship. The Owls suffered a 2-1 home defeat at the hands of league leaders Middlesbrough, which stalled their good run of form.

Jos Luhukay’s men were unbeaten in the four games prior to the weekend. They now face a QPR side, who are slowly regaining form, winning two of the last three games and drawing the other. Hence, it won’t be easy for Wednesday to pick up a win.

Team News

Joost van Aken is back in training but wouldn’t be back for the midweek game. Marco Matias is still out, while Kieran Lee, Gary Hooper and Fernando Forestieri are out for several weeks.

Probable Sheffield Wednesday XI

Formation: 3-4-1-2

Manager: Jos Luhukay

Cameron Dawson (GK)

He has been solid between the sticks for the Owls this season. He is expected to play a key role this season.

Michael Hector (CB)

Hector has performed well being given the start a few weeks back. He has been vital to the team at the back.

Tom Lees

Tom Lees (RCB)

The captain had a slightly off day against Middlesbrough, but his general form has been good for the team.

Jordan Thorniley (LCB)

The youngster has been in decent form for the Owls. His passing from the back is one of the attractive attributes he possesses.

Liam Palmer (RWB)

Palmer struggled against Boro as he was pinned back most of the time. Expect him to be on the front foot against QPR.

Matt Penney (LWB)

Just like Palmer, Penney also struggled to harness impact going forward. But he was good defensively, which isn’t bad at all. He would be eager to make forward runs and put some deadly crosses in.

Barry Bannan

Barry Bannan (CM)

Bannan has been one of the better players for Wednesday this season. His control in the midfield is important in every game.

Josh Onomah (CM)

Joey Pelupessy struggled to stamp his authority on Friday. Expect Onomah to replace him for this game.

Adam Reach

Adam Reach (CAM)

Scored another good goal on Friday and carried the bulk of the threat. His upturn of form has been a good riddance for the Owls.

Atdhe Nuhiu (ST)

Lucas Joao laboured against Boro and didn’t carry much threat. As a result, Nuhiu might start against QPR.
