Predicted Burnley line-up to face Chelsea in the Premier League

Burnley received a proper thrashing from Manchester City last time out with the Champions running riot at the Etihad Stadium. Sean Dyche’s men succumbed to a 5-0 defeat and they now come up against another tough opponent in the form of Chelsea.

The Blues are unbeaten in the league this season and their confidence will be high after a last-minute equaliser against Manchester United last weekend. Burnley will definitely have to be wary of a number of potent threats.

Team News

Burnley welcome back Robbie Brady from his knee tendon injury. Ben Gibson has stepped up his comeback after a hernia problem but remains sidelined, while Aaron Lennon has a virus and could miss out.

Probable Burnley XI

Manager: Sean Dyche

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Joe Hart (GK)

Hart has been turning heads since making the move to Burnley this season. He will keep his place in goal.

James Tarkowski

Matthew Lowton (RB)

Lowton needs to show more awareness and urgency down the flank or Burnley are going to concede goals once again.

James Tarkowski (CB)

Tarkowski has failed to hit the high standards he set last season. He should still start this game.

Ben Mee (CB)

One of the most consistent performers for Burnley, Mee has failed to make a major impact at the back. Nevertheless, he too should keep his place.

Charlie Taylor (LB)

Taylor has done well after coming into the side due to an injury to Ward. Should start.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson

Johann Berg Gudmundsson (RM)

Burnley’s main source of supply and threat down the left flank should pose a few problems for the Blues.

Ashley Westwood (RCM)

Westwood was a second-half substitute in the last game and should return to the line-up for this one.

Jack Cork (LCM)

Cork needs to be quicker with his passing and defensively aware in the middle of the park.

Ashley Westwood

Ashley Barnes (LW)

Barnes should start on the left wing since Lennon is out. If he runs riot, Burnley have a good chance of getting something out of this game.

Matej Vydra (CAM)

The former Derby County striker should be reinstalled into the squad for this game.
