Predicted Chelsea line-up to face BATE Borisov in the Europa League

After snatching a point from the jaws of defeat against Manchester United, Chelsea now turn their attention towards an interesting Europa League game versus Belarusian league leaders, BATE Borisov. Maurizio Sarri’s men are still unbeaten in all competition, thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Ross Barkley on Saturday.

The Blues have made a perfect start in the continental competition, winning both the group games thus far. They will be looking to make the home advantage count and beat their opponents on Thursday to go one step closer to the knockout round.

Team News

Eden Hazard complained about a back injury after the United game and should be out for this game. Ethan Ampadu is suffering from a knee injury, which is certain to keep him out of action until the end of this month.

Probable Chelsea XI

Formation: 4-3-3

Manager: Maurizio Sarri

Kepa Arrizabalaga (GK)

The Spaniard is slowly justifying his price tag. A solid presence at the back and never gets flustered in goal.

Gary Cahill

Davide Zappacosta (RB)

Cesar Azpilicueta may get a rest for this game, which presents a chance for Zappacosta to impress the manager.

Gary Cahill (CB)

The veteran hasn’t played much this season but cup games could be the only way for him to get some game time.

Andreas Christensen (CB)

David Luiz should be rested for this game, which opens up an opportunity for Christensen to show his qualities.

Emerson (LB)

The Brazilian has struggled with injuries to really challenge Marcos Alonso for the left-back spot. Hence, he has had to contend with limited game time.

Cesc Fabregas

Cesc Fabregas (CDM)

Fabregas could be a key player in these games where the opposition is expected to sit deep and defend the box. This is where the Spaniard’s range of passing can break the lock.

Ross Barkley (LCM)

Chelsea are still unbeaten in all competitions thanks to Barkley’s last-gasp equaliser. The Englishman came on a sub on Saturday, however, he is almost certain to start on Thursday.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek (RCM)

The youngster is fighting a tough battle for a spot in the midfield. He might get the cup games to prove his worth, and the 22-year-old must take these chances with both hands.

Willian (LW)

With Hazard expected to be out for this match, Willian should swap wings and start on the left against BATE.

Olivier Giroud

Olivier Giroud (ST)

Came on as a sub against United as Alvaro Morata didn’t cover himself in glory. Hence, Giroud should be back in the starting XI for Chelsea.
