Predicted Wigan Athletic line-up to face Leeds United in the Championship

Wigan Athletic welcome Leeds United to the DW Stadium on Sunday as Paul Cooks looks to bounce back to winning ways in the Championship.

The Latics were heavily beaten at Sheffield United last weekend. Cook will expect his boys to put in an improved performance against Leeds United.

Leeds, meanwhile, have slightly lost their way after a blistering start to the new season and will be in a buoyant mood to face Wigan.

Team News

Wigan are already without Gavin Massey and Michael Jacobs until the New Year, while Will Grigg has an outside chance of returning to the fold before the busy period.

Gary Roberts and Nick Powell picked up injuries at Sheffield United and remain doubtful for the Leeds clash.

Meanwhile, Cook will be able to welcome Darron Gibson back, with the midfielder having completed a three-game ban.

Probable Wigan Athletic XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Paul Cook

Christian Walton (GK)

Conceded four goals last weekend but was certainly not to blame for the heavy defeat at United. He would be looking to do better against Leeds.

Dan Burn

Reece James (RB)

James has been a consistent performer at right-back for the Latics. He should keep his place in the team on Sunday.

Chey Dunkley (CB)

Dunkley needs to forget his poor outing against Sheffield United and look forward to putting in a commanding display at the weekend.

Dan Burn (CB)

Blessed with a towering frame, Burn will have to be at his best to keep the quality Leeds attackers at bay on Sunday.

Antonee Robinson (LB)

Was restored to the starting line-up at Sheffield United but didn’t do well. However, Robinson could get another chance to impress.

Sam Morsy (CM)

Morsy brings a lot of energy and liveliness to the Wigan midfield. His tigerish approach makes Wigan tick.

Darron Gibson (CM)

After completing his three-game ban, Gibson could walk straight into the Wigan XI against Leeds. His experience would be handy in such a big game.

Callum McManaman (LW)

McManaman could cause Leeds’ backline some problems with his pace and energy out wide.

Josh Windass (CAM)

Windass was Wigan’s star man in the 4-2 defeat at Sheffield United. He could start against Leeds in the No.10 role.

Nathan Byrne (RW)

Byrne should keep his place in the team after putting in a decent display last weekend.

Joe Garner (ST)

Garner bagged his first goal of the season against the Blades. He would be desperate to get on the scoresheet as quickly as possible.
