Predicted Wigan Athletic line-up to face West Brom in the Championship

Wigan Athletic will be aiming to come back strong when the Championship returns this weekend with the club currently on a 3-game winless run. Paul Cook’s men have shown a sudden dip in their form and have fallen out of the top 10.

The manager will be coming up against an in-form West Bromwich Albion, who are on the back of a rampant 4-0 win against Reading. Wigan need to turn up on the day or they will definitely be made to pay for it.

Team News

Cook has been boosted by the return of Sam Morsy, who made his comeback from injury in the last game. Darron Gibson has to sit this one out after picking up a red card in the last fixture against Preston. James Vaughan, William Griff and Gavin Massey are also said to be sidelined for this game.

Probable Wigan Athletic XI

Manager: Paul Cook

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Christian Walton (GK)

Walton has been in good form between the sticks but was poor against Preston last time out. Nevertheless, he should continue in goal.

Reece James (RB)

James has been impressive for Wigan this season and his raids down the flanks will prove massive in this game.

Cheyenne Dunkley (CB)

Dunkley continues to impress under Paul Cook and he has been Wigan’s leader at the back.

Cedric Kipre (CB)

After making a slow start, Kipre has now looked good at the back alongside Dunkley.

Antonee Robinson (LB)

Since joining on loan from Everton, he has been consistent and confident.

Sam Morsy (LCM)

Morsy returned to the line-up in the last game and will now be aiming to put in a couple of strong performances in the middle of the park.

Lee Evans (RCM)

Evans is a very influential man in the midfield for Wigan. He should partner Morsy for this one in place of Gibson.

Josh Windass (LAM)

Windass has shown glimpses of his quality but has failed to maintain consistency. He will start on the left-hand side of the midfield.

Nick Powell (CAM)

Powell is Wigan’s driving force in the final third. Though his form has dipped over the last few weeks, the former Manchester United man is still a potent threat.

Callum McManaman (RAM)

McManaman should return to the fold after coming off the bench in the loss against Preston.

Joe Garner (ST)

Joe Garner should take the place of the injured William Grigg. He might lead the line for this fixture.
