Predicted Leeds United Line-up To Face Cardiff City In The EFL Championship

Leeds United will travel to Wales, to take on Cardiff City in the top of the table clash against Cardiff City in the EFL Championship, on Tuesday night.

The Whites are currently seated at the top of the league standings, with 20 points from 9 games, level on points with Wolves and Cardiff, who occupy the second and the third place respectively, but are behind on goal difference.

Thomas Christiansen will be hoping that his side get all three points to widen the gap at the top with a win. They come into the game on the back of a hard-fought 3-2 win over Ipswich Town in the weekend, and will want to carry the momentum.

Team News

Caleb Ekuban is the only injury concern for Christiansen to contend with at the moment.

Here’s how the Whites could take the field against Cardiff:

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Felix Wiedwald (GK)

The German has been very good since arriving in the summer and has established himself as the firm first-choice. No changes here.

Luke Ayling (RB)

One of the most consistent performers week in week out, the 26-year old Englishman is another permanent fixture for the Whites in the defence.

Luke Ayling

Pontus Jansson (CB)

The giant Swede was surprisingly left out of the squad last week, despite being fit. Should be reinstated to the starting XI, in place of the young Conor Shaughnessy.

Liam Cooper (CB)

The club captain has been very solid at the back this season and is unlikely to be dropped for such a crucial game. Will partner Jansson in the heart of the defence.

Gaetano Berardi (LB)

The versatile left-back should come into the starting XI, in place of Vurnon Anita, who has struggled in the last two league games against Millwall and Ipswich Town.

Kalvin Phillips

Eunan O’Kane (CM)

The Irishman has been one of Leeds’ best player this season and is without a doubt, a definite starter for the game against Cardiff.

Kalvin Phillips (CM)

The youngster has made huge strides since last season and has added the knack of getting important goals to his game. Scored his 4th goal of the season on Saturday and will start on Tuesday.

Gianni Alioski (RW)

The Macedonian has gone off the boil in recent weeks, but given his quality and ability to change games, he should be backed by the manager for such a crucial game.

Gianni Alioski

Samu Saiz (CAM)

The former Huesca man has made the No.10 slot his own with one eye-catching performance after the other. Irremovable.

Pablo Hernandez (LW)

The Spaniard has struck a wonderful understanding with his fellow countryman Saiz and has the quality to open up defences with great ease. Will be a key player on Tuesday.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga (ST)

The German has been clinical since his arrival in the summer. Scored on Saturday against Ipswich and should spearhead the attacking line.
