Predicted Leeds United Line-Up To Face Burton Albion In The EFL Championship

After the international break, club football is ready to resume and Leeds United will take on Burton Albion in the sixth round of fixtures in the EFL Championship on Saturday at the Elland Road.

The Whites currently occupy the third-place in the league table, with 11 points from 5 games, having won three of their encounters and drawn two. Thomas Christiansen’s men come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win away at Nottingham Forest and the manager will be hoping that the international break doesn’t affect the momentum that they have been able to gather.

Team News

There’s bad news on Caleb Ekuban as the striker who joined earlier this summer, is ruled out for two months after he picked up an ankle injury against Sunderland a few weeks back. Deadline day signing Pierre-Michael Lasogga may not get to make his debut as he is expecting his first child over the weekend and may have to leave, to be with his partner. Eunan O’Kane is a doubt as well, due to a groin strain. However, there is some boost with the news that defensive duo Matthew Pennington and Gaetano Berardi have returned to training.

Here’s how they could line up against Burton.

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Felix Wiedwald (GK)

Has had a good start to life in England, and has kept four clean sheets in five league games. Will want to add another on Saturday.

Luke Ayling (RB)

An ever-present in the starting XI, Ayling has developed into one of the most consistent performers for Leeds. A definite starter.

Luke Ayling

Pontus Jansson (CB)

The big Swedish lad is another key cog in the Leeds side and is sure to start the game in the heart of the defence.

Liam Cooper (CB)

Named as the club captain for the season, Cooper has lived up to the expectations with some very captain-like performances so far. Will partner Jansson at the back.

Cameron Borthwick-Jackson (LB)

With Berardi returning to training, the youngster, on loan from Manchester United will want to put in a strong display and make sure Christiansen has a thing or two to think about, before reinstating the senior pro.

Mateusz Klich (CM)

The new signing hasn’t started a single league game yet this season, but with O’Kane a doubt, we may get to see him make a start.

Kalvin Phillips (CM)

Has been one of the strongest starters for the Whites this season and should retain his starting place in the middle of the park.

Ezgjan Alioski (RW)

Has been a major threat from the right flank and it is unlikely that the manager will bench the Macedonian international.

Samu Saiz (CAM)

The former Huesca man has established himself as a fan favourite already with some enthralling displays since his arrival. Will start in behind the striker.

Kemar Roofe

Pablo Hernandez (LW)

Starting on the left-hand side will be Spanish playmaker Pablo Hernandez. Has the quality and the ability to cause great troubles with his vision and range of passing.

Kemar Roofe (ST)

With Chris Wood gone and Ekuban ruled out, Roofe was asked to step up as a striker and the former Oxford United man performed admirably. Expect him to start against Burton.
