Expected Barcelona line-up fitting new signing Malcom

Barcelona have done quite a remarkable job to hijack Malcom’s move to AS Roma and sign the player just 24 hours after the Italian club announced his deal. French club Bordeaux’s Brazilian forward joins Barca for a fee worth close to £36.5m.

The La Liga champions have bought the likes of Clement Lenglet and Arthur to improve themselves. Getting Malcom will add variety and pace to the forward line, making them a dangerous prospect for next season.

Here’s how Barcelona could line up next season with Malcom in the team:

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Manager: Ernesto Valverde

Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (GK)

The German has done a terrific job for the Catalans in the past few seasons. Expect him to be the No.1.

Nelson Semedo

Nelson Semedo (RB)

The Portuguese hasn’t done enough thus far to warrant a regular place in the right-back position, however, he has the talent to grab his opportunity this time around.

Gerard Pique (CB)

An ever-present for Barcelona and a symbol of consistency at the back. He will be eyeing up a very good partnership with World Cup winner Samuel Umtiti.

Samuel Umtiti (CB)

The Frenchman was fantastic for his national team during the recently concluded World Cup. Expect him to have more confidence and swagger, having won the major tournament in Russia.

Samuel Umtiti

Jordi Alba (LB)

Another ever-present down the left-hand side for the Blaugrana. Alba is a player in perpetual motion all the time, moving up and down the pitch with great effect.

Sergio Busquets (CDM)

Busquets’ calm and collective use of the ball in central midfield is a very important part of the Barcelona system. The Spaniard always seems to have an extra second with the ball, and his eye for a devilish through pass is imperious.

Sergio Busquets

Ivan Rakitic (CM)

Rakitic is another player who is as good as the best when in possession. The Croat was fantastic for his nation in their crazy run to the World Cup final. Expect him to start the games despite resting for most of the pre-season, which he deserves after playing 71 games last season, including the ones in Russia.

Philippe Coutinho (LW)

The Brazilian will start on the left-hand side and cut inside to create space for an onrushing Alba. The magician is expected to take over from Andres Iniesta and stamp his name in the Barca history.

Malcom (RW)

Malcom can play across the front-line without much trouble. So the 21-year-old starting from the right-wing position and using his pace and skills will sure terrify defences in Spain.

Malcom

Lionel Messi (SS)

The great man doesn’t need any introduction. He can be deployed in that support striker role and operate in the pockets of space between the lines.

Luis Suarez (ST)
