Aston Villa opinion: How the Villans can line up with their new signings

It goes without saying that Aston Villa have had a productive time in the ongoing transfer window. From the permanent capture of Anwar El Ghazi to signing Wesley Moraes, it is rather evident that Dean Smith and his men are ready to make a statement in the Premier League next season.

Besides that, the Villans have included the likes of Frederic Guilbert, Matt Targett, Jota, Ezri Konsa and Bjorn Engels, Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause to their squad.

Dean Smith’s preferred formation (4-3-3)

Villans tend to stick to a winger-heavy formation, which helped them win the Championship last season.

Defence

Full-backs – Matt Targett (LB), Frederic Guilbert (RB)

Centre-backs – Tyrone Mings, Kortney Hause

Matt Targett

Smith must overhaul the full-back slots, which were earlier occupied by Elmohamady and Neil Taylor, who are now in their 30s. Instead, the Villans can bring on news signings Guilbert and Targett, as both tend to breathe a new life into the backline.

Tyrone Mings is capable of being an irreplaceable centre-back whilst former Wolves player Hause could be his perfect partner in the defence.

Midfield – Not much changes needed

One of the key reasons for the Lions’ promotion last season was the midfield strength they possessed, especially the contributions from John McGinn and Jack Grealish.

Jack Grealish

Smith should stick to the line-up which includes the likes of Grealish, McGinn and Hourihane while Spanish midfielder Jota should be used on a rotational basis.

Attackers – El Ghazi, Wesley, Albert Adomah

If there is one certain thing that will make the Villans a highly-competent side in the Premier League next season, it is none other than their attacking prowess.

Wesley Moraes

They have managed to sign Wesley from Club Brugge, thus overcoming the loss of Tammy Abraham. Now, the Brazilian striker should be the focal point in the Villans’ attack whilst El Ghazi and Adomah should accompany him on the wings.
