“I’m crying”, “Awful game”: Several Leicester fans frustrated after 1-1 draw vs Norwich + Match report

Leicester City vs Norwich City report: Leicester City match report

Leicester City’s long winning streak came to an abrupt end at the King Power Stadium as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Norwich City on Saturday. Their failure to land a ninth consecutive Premier League win leaves them 10 points behind leaders Liverpool, who registered a 2-0 success over Watford at Anfield.

Teemu Pukki gave Norwich City a surprise lead in 26th minute, scoring from an Emiliano Buendia pass. However, Leicester equalised when Jamie Vardy’s header went in off goalkeeper Tim Krul. But it was the hosts who started the game on the front foot.

Brendan Rodgers named an unchanged starting XI and there were early warning signs for Norwich, with Jamie Vardy easily turning past Christoph Zimmerman before over-hitting a cross.

Norwich rarely saw the ball in those opening stages but as the game settled, they slowly showed signs of getting in. Alex Tettey’s powerful shot was blocked bravely by Jonny Evans. Pukki was inches away from converting at the far post but couldn’t.

However, the Finn gave Norwich the lead as he ran onto a beautiful defence-splitting pass from Buendia to slot a precise finish just inside Kasper Schmeichel’s near post.

Kelechi Iheanacho failed to return the ball to Norwich after a throw and rolled around like he’d been shot after a trip from Zimmerman outside the penalty area. He was subbed off before half-time for poor sportsmanship.

Vardy, who was chasing a goal for a ninth straight Premier League match, had a significant hand in the equaliser as his glancing header – which was going wide – was turned into his own net by Krul.

Rodgers made his second substitution at the interval, sending on Harvey Barnes for Dennis Praet to try and get a foothold in the game. Vardy had a shot on the turn tipped away by Krul, while Norwich also threatened on the counter a couple of times.

There was a VAR penalty check for a kick against Ben Chilwell but nothing was given. Maddison had a goalbound shot deflected for a corner. Norwich had a glorious opportunity to win the contest when Buendia’s lofted pass set Pukki free on goal, but Caglar Soyuncu raced back to make a fantastic covering block.

Frustrated with the 1-1 draw with Norwich, here’s how some Leicester fans reacted on Twitter.
