Predicted Leicester City Line-up To Face Leeds United In The Carabao Cup
Leicester City managed to start their post Shakespeare-era with a 2-1 victory over Swansea City in the domestic league at the weekend. Michael Appleton seems to have done a decent job with the squad and will be in charge of the club when they take on Championship giants Leeds United in the Carabao Cup round of 16 on Tuesday.
The Whites managed a simple victory at the weekend in their league game and will provide tough fight in this game. Appleton will want to go into the game with a strong XI to make sure that there are no hiccups.
Team News
Robert Huth and Matthew James are the only two names on the injury table, which leaves the interim manager with a strong squad to choose from.
Formation: 4-4-2
Manager: Michael Appleton
GK – Edlin Jakupovic
Making a debut should be Jakupovic, who joined the Foxes in the summer from Hull City. He is yet to play for the senior side and this game could be the perfect opportunity for him to start.
RB – Danny Simpson
Lack of too many options in the fullback department should see Appleton stick with Simpson at right-back for this crunch tie.
CB – Harry Maguire
To add strength to the backline, Maguire is expected to keep his place in the side, playing as a centre-half.
CB – Christian Fuchs
With Morgan needing a break, Fuchs, who has previously done well as a CB, is expected to partner Maguire in this game against Leeds United.
LB – Ben Chilwell
The youngster has been ignored so far in the domestic league this season but will get a chance to showcase his talent, in his natural position on Tuesday.
RM – Ahmed Musa
Though not in the first-team on a regular basis, Musa is still a dangerous player and Appleton should find a way to get his confidence back, giving him a chance to start on the right-hand side of the midfield.
CM – Daniel Amartey
With Ndidi needing some rest, Amartey, who made a decent start to the season, is expected to start in the middle of the park for the Foxes.
CM – Andy King
Partnering him should be Andy King, whose industry and creativity might be needed for his side to get the better of the Whites.
LM – Demarai Gray
The youngster has failed to cement his place in the first-team this season but should start this game on the left wing, trying to show what he is capable of.
ST – Islam Slimani
With Vardy playing almost every game this season, he is expected to be rested for this tie and Slimani could play as the senior attacker, like he did in the previous round against Liverpool.
CF – Kelechi Iheanacho
The former Manchester City man is still adjusting to life at Leicester City but he will have an important role to play, starting just behind Slimani against Leeds United.
