Ideal replacement for Dembele? Tottenham should leave no stone unturned in signing this 27-year-old Serie A powerhouse

Tottenham Hotspur should definitely make the move for Allan

Tottenham Hotspur must definitely bring in reinforcements in the summer despite making a positive start to their season. The Lilywhites have made their best ever start under Mauricio Pochettino but still look a long way from glory.

A number of injuries have seen a slight dip in their form though they are grinding out the wins every now and then. And to worsen the situation, midfielder Mousa Dembele’s contract will expire in the summer.

The Belgian powerhouse has been a crucial figure in the squad and if he does leave the club, Spurs will need to find an able replacement.

Allan Marques Loureiro

Pochettino should consider taking a look at Napoli midfielder Allan. The Brazilian has blossomed into one of the most effective holding midfielders in Europe. He has taken his time but has now blossomed into the perfect kind of player needed to flourish in the Premier League.

Allan has been in superb form for the Serie A outfit this season. He was supreme in the Champions League win against Liverpool, covering all the areas of the pitch while also seamlessly distributing the ball.

That is what Spurs need at the moment. Though Dembele is defensively stoic, the Belgian often slows down the play during transition or counter attacks. He has not provided much going forward but Allan certainly possesses the ability to do so.

He is a quick and crisp mover of the ball. The 27-year-old has averaged an impressive pass success rate of 89.7% in the Serie A this season as well. He has also picked up 2 assists in the league and has played a major role in pushing forward. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Mousa Dembele

Allan is also comfortable at driving at defenders which will provide space for his teammates to make runs. This should see the likes of Lucas Moura, Harry Kane and Dele Alli receive more free space to time their moves and play their games.

Tottenham Hotspur should definitely make the move for Allan. Napoli will be reluctant to part ways with their in-form player but Spurs should do everything in their power to lure him to London. Mauricio Pochettino is in desperate need of some fresh faces.
