“I’d Like To Play For Them” – £14m Arsenal Target Gives A Green Light For The Transfer

After all the disappointments, it looks like Arsenal fans are finally going to get a new signing. Bayern Munich midfielder Luis Gustavo is on the verge of completing his move to Arsenal, making this Wenger’s first high profile signing of the summer. And Gustavo has recently said few things about the club, expressing his desire to play for the English side.

“My contract with Bayern runs until 2015 but it is very important that I play first-team football to keep getting called up for Brazil. I am in a very delicate situation at Bayern and this needs sorting out. I have personal and professional reasons to move. I have heard about the Arsenal interest. It’s a big club we’re talking about here so of course I’d like to play for them.” he mentioned.

He went to praise the brand of football that Arsenal plays and particularly manager Arsene Wenger.  “Arsenal play a very attractive brand of football and are in the Champions League. They also have a very clever manager in Arsène Wenger. Even when Bayern beat them in the last Champions League [on aggregate] you could see they are not pushovers.” he added.

Guardian quotes that, Luiz Gustavo has welcomed a potential move to Arsenal, with the club hopeful of completing a £14m deal for the Bayern Munich defensive midfielder this week.

All these are indicative of only one thing that soon the news of Gustavo joining Arsenal might be made official. Now the fans must be hoping to see a high profile striker join the club sooner than later. Gustavo has never played for a big club in his native country and left for Hoffenheim in 2007 when he was 20, and the club were still a Bundesliga 2 side. He appeared in a meager 20 games for the Bavarians last season due to the arrival of Martínez and a move to Arsenal would definitely salvage his carreer.

While the Arsenal management is toiling hard to make some adept signings, their star player of the team, Jack Wilshere, seems to be elated at being called up for the England squad. This call up has made him so happy that he has tweeted

‘Just arrived at St George’s Park! Open my door and see these! Is there any better feeling? #Proud #ThreeLions’

He has so far played in just ten international matches, but many believe that this Gunners number 10 is certainly the big hope for the national team.
